🐾 Happy National Neighborhood Pet Store Day! 🐾 Today we’re celebrating the incredible partnerships that make a world of difference for our animals and community. 💛

Thanks to our friends at Pet Supplies Plus, whose bathtubs have been transformational for our dogs, and for sponsoring adoption events and coupons for our adopters to shop for their new best friends’ first goodies 🛁 🛒.

And a big shoutout to PetSmart for a wonderful adoption event in August and where our kittens in residence are getting extra love and attention as they await their forever homes 😺💖.

These local pet stores make it easy for us to connect adopters with the supplies and support to ease our animals into their new forever homes. Together, we’re building a stronger, more compassionate community for pets and people alike.

🚨 SPAY & NEUTER CLINIC 🚨
📍 Tractor Supply, Woodland, CA | 🗓 September 16–17

Yolo County is facing a heartbreaking crisis: too many cats and dogs, not enough homes. Every litter born adds to the strain on our shelters, volunteers, and communities.

✨ SNIP Bus-Spay Neuter Imperative Project is bringing real solutions right here to Woodland! This is our chance to step up and take action for animal welfare.

🐾 Fewer homeless pets.
🐾 Healthier, longer lives.
🐾 Less suffering.
🐾 A stronger, kinder community.

👉 Here’s how you can help:
1️⃣ Book an appointment for your pet.
2️⃣ Spread the word—tell friends, neighbors, coworkers.
3️⃣ SHARE this post so every cat and dog in Yolo County gets the chance they deserve.

💜 Be part of the solution. Together, we can make “no more unwanted litters” a reality.

Are you smitten for kittens? Then mark your calendars for Saturday, June 7th from 11am–2pm and head over to 336 C St. for our “Smitten for Kittens” event — it’s not just an adoption event, it’s a fundraiser too!

Hosted by Friends of Yolo Animal Services & Phi Delta Theta, this paws-itively adorable event is your chance to meet your new furry family member (or two — kittens do best in pairs!). All kittens will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and ready to go home with you that day.

Admission is just a $5 donation (kids get in free!), and the fun doesn’t stop there! Enjoy:
• On-site adoptions
• Sweet treats
• Games and face painting
• Activities for the whole family
KNCI Radio Station will also be there!

And here’s the big mews: An anonymous donor has generously pledged to match every dollar donated on the day of the event, up to $10,000! So your support goes twice as far! All monies raised will go directly to animals in need.

Come join the fun, help save lives, and become a Friend of Yolo County Animal Services. We can't wait to see you there!

This Big Day of Giving, Help Us Go Beyond the Basics

Your donation to Friends of YCAS, in partnership with the Yolo County Animal Shelter, does more than help animals get by—it helps them thrive.

We’re raising funds for:
A dedicated space for small dogs, so they can feel safe and be seen—away from larger, louder kennel areas.

Urgent and ongoing medical care—ranging from dental work to treatment for injuries, infections, and other health needs

Everyday essentials like harnesses, leashes, enrichment toys, and supplies that aren’t covered by the shelter's tight budget

Support for staff roles or programs that help improve care and outcomes for shelter animals

Together with the Yolo County Animal Shelter, Friends of YCAS helps fill the gaps where public funding ends—because every animal deserves not just shelter, but comfort, healing, and a real chance at a better life.

So far we have raised $2,000. Help us get the word out. We need your help.

The Big Day of Giving is on May 1st, but you can start giving as early as today.

When times are tough, it’s often animals who are forgotten and left behind without voices to advocate for themselves.

At Yolo County Animal Services, overcrowding in the shelter is pushing animals beyond their limits. Small dogs and puppies are being housed with big dogs, creating stress, fear, and heartbreak. Stressed animals struggle to show their best selves, making it harder for them to find loving homes, with some breaking down so much that keeping them kenneled is no longer humane.

Friends of Yolo County Animal Services stands with the shelter to fill the gap, providing lifesaving support when the shelter’s resources fall short.

Today, we’re asking you to stand with us.

We’re raising $40,000 to build a dedicated, safe space for small dogs and puppies — a place where they can heal, find comfort, and have a second chance at life.

Please don’t forget the animals.

Sometimes working at a shelter is hard.

Today was one of those days—it was raining, and we had just received news that two dogs were being returned. The mood in the office was heavy and somber. Someone suggested turning on music for a lift; another person said what we really needed was coffee.

Then, as if on cue, we looked up and saw two amazing Dutch Bros employees walk in, delivering a dose of holiday cheer in the form of gift cards!

Thank you so much, Dutch Bros, for your generosity and for brightening our day when we needed it most. Your kindness reminds us that there’s so much good in the world—and it keeps us going, even on tough days. ❤️
