NEEDS A HOME!!!! ❤️A neighbor found this little kitten. Not sure of the s*x or age. But she'll be bringing it to the shop tomorrow for me to keep until I find it a home... if your interested please call or text our shop phone. I'll have more info on it once I see it tomorrow. Neighbor did mention it's very calm and friendly🥰

I post about this every year... with the hotter weather we get a lot of requests from clients wanting us to shave their double coated dogs. Some groomers will do it either because they simply don't know how bad it is for the dog or they simply don't care. We do not shave double coated breeds at Star Paws!!!! Unless... the dog is extremely matted and there is no other option. I always try my best to educate clients on this subject. Here's a couple reason why we don't do it! A deshed and scissor trim is the best thing for double coated breeds. Their hair protects them from the heat and sun! A little Google search and you can find more info on this!

The unfortunate truth of owning and running a business.
Running a business is really hard.
What they don’t tell you is that it can cause severe stress and anxiety, and drains you mentally to the point of depression in even the most laid-back people.
People will talk about you, compare you to others, use you, they will view you as a service and not a person anymore.
People will expect discounts and people will value you and your hard work less than a big chain store.
You have to worry about if you forget to email/message someone back, are they going to think it was on purpose? Did you disappoint them? Will they hold that against you? When in reality you just can’t get to everyone’s messages and emails.
Starting up and running a successful business puts incredible strain on personal lives and relationships, many of which fail because there is just often no work life balance. You need to be the director, the worker, the admin, the marketing team, the accountant, the cleaner..... All whilst being a parent, a provider, family support, friend, spouse...
There’s a reason you don’t see many people succeed in small businesses after 5-10 years. If they are successful they are overwhelmed. It takes a toll. It’s freaking exhausting. Especially the past couple of years when so much has been out of our control.
Here’s a small reminder that we are just normal people with hectic lives. Be kind, be patient, support small businesses…….and hopefully more of us will stick around!

Most of you have met our newest member to the Star Paws team 😁 if you haven't yet... her name is Pickles. I found her at a gas station about a month ago. Tried bringing her home but she's not a fan of other cats, I have 3 others. Took her to the shop till I could figure it what to do with her and she acted like she had lived there her whole life. So obviously she was happy at the shop. She loves the dogs. And she is the best greeter to all our customers.
But..... if you have any cat allergies or have a dog that is cat aggressive please feel free to let us know. Pickles has the whole upstairs to her self if she needs to hang out up there while you and your dog are in our salon. ❤️
