Ramshorn Snails, they are always up to something, and love to explore. I needed to move this one to a new tank and left it alone for a minute, only to find that it had already found the edge.

I caught this little Magenta Mystery Snail searching the surface of the water for a snack! The foot is curled to create a vortex pulling in water and any floating foods. When the hunt for snacks is over, the foot flattens out.

Something a human foot could never do: make food come to you. 👣 Less sophisticated human foot has to go to food 😂

What you see here is the snail actually doing two things to accomplish this 1) creating a small vacuum between the "sole" of its foot and the glass, by pulling the foot's sole away from the glass, but keeping its foot's edge firmly attached to the glass. Water wants to fill the vacuum, and rush towards the foot's sole. 2) using it's "toe" the snail pushes the surface of the water higher than the actual water level, this is possible because of water's high surface tension, then, because of the vacuum caused by the sole, a continuous stream of water "falls" towards the sole, creating a siphon effect.
Anything that is floating on the surface of the water nearby will be pulled towards the snail and into the foot. Once the foot is full of food, the snail will reach over its toe with its snout to eat it!
My guess is that this is a learned behavior, or discovered once they reach at least an inch in size. Since this is not something I've ever seen small/young snails do.
