This handsome boy is Asher, at 11 months old, he's an energetic and playful yet affectionate boy, who is full grown at around 60 lbs. He gets along with the majority of other dogs but sometimes a little too rough. He's smart and knows basic commands as well as is fully potty trained. He loves people and attention but needs a strong leader to help him to continue to fine tune his manners and training. He does love a snuggle on the couch with his person.

My name is Elsa and I used to think I would live out my life with a family that adopted me as a puppy and had children that I loved playing with. Just recently they decided that they couldn't keep me and I really don't know if the excuses were valid but I ended up at the shelter in East Tennessee and they contacted a volunteer with an amazing rescue to see if they would come get me. The shelter people knew I didn't belong there and that I was getting depressed. I went into boarding while I got all vetting including a microchip and spay. I'm an easygoing girl that does have energy because I'm a 3-year-old 50 lb doodle. Because I have poodle in me I'm extremely intelligent and I love physical and mental activities. I know how to sit and how to shake and probably other commands if someone will just show me the ropes and what to do. I'm housebroken I'm crate trained I'm pretty much the ideal Parti Doodle girl. Some people tell me I'm a showstopper.
I walk very well on a leash but certainly can polish those skills with someone that does this with me daily. I love other dogs and I'm good with cats. There's really nothing bad that I do in my life, but the fact that I'm homeless is a sad part of my life. I hope someone will make me their very own that has a fenced in backyard and maybe some kids to play with and I can play fetch and tug of war and run happily in the backyard while they laugh at my antics. It would be a great Thanksgiving to share a turkey leg with a real forever family.

These two were both searching for specific homes when they found each other at Camp Cocoa. We aren't sure how to explain it but it's like they just clicked when they met here and understood each other, it's touching and relieving that they are finding such happiness in foster care. We strive to keep every dog comfortable and happy as you can see here.

Gretchen and Benny have been back and forth from here a few times now from separate homes that didn't have quite the right fit for them. We do know they both love other dogs and do best around them. We are hoping , maybe, just maybe, some chance they get adopted together... It's a long shot but we are just throwing it out there! As a bobtailed Aussie at about 18 months old with awesome manners and a head tilt that would make all the women faint. No outlaws would get past him and he certainly would listen to his Mayor. This little lady is Ariel she is hoping to travel on land but still has a tail fin, once she gets her feet under her and opens up she will be singing all the time. Ariel is a little shy still and does not know the ways of the land but does love treats and plays great with others. Are you willing to kiss this girl and give her all the love under the sea. We were dealt an Ace with this one. This guy Ace is a sweet and loving, yet a bit skittish initially. He has started opening up and seems to want so much love but not sure how to fold those worries yet. Ace is amazing on a leash to the point that it seems like he is bluffing. Those eyes and love are waiting to deal you a great and amazing pup only at 6 months old. Please message us for an application!

This little girl is called Franny and she is a delightful girl, words do not do her justice, you really just need to meet her. What we can say is she brings a smile to everyone's face when they meet her. She's a little dog, has so much charisma, charm and approachability that is rare. This little girl was displaced because her young family fell on hard times and they were desperate to not take her to a shelter but to find a rescue that could help. She is spayed and she has had several litters of puppies in the past. She has a little bit of a poochie droop on her lower tummy which will eventually draw up over time as she matures. Too many litters in a short lifetime. She's got the shortest little Dachshund legs ever. We were told she was a Dachshund/Border Collie mix and we certainly see that blend. She's 24 lbs., she's a little over 2 years old. She's house broken and getting used to the crate but she would prefer to sleep in bed with you if you would allow. Great with other dogs, good with cats and has been around very, very young toddlers. She loves to ride in the car and as you can see she wears a big smile when she's sitting in the front passenger seat as your co-driver. Franny has these big adorable ears, the charming personality, the perfect small size and funny little trick of sitting up on her square butt for dog treats. Right now, she's a little anxious and has some separation fear and just wants to be by your side constantly. We understand because she went from her original home to the mother-in-law's home and then to us and it's a lot for her to adjust to. Welcome this handsome boy to Camp Cocoa!

My name is Hensley! I am a lab hound mix that is 10 months old and I weigh 40 lbs. I'm probably not going to be more than about 45 as an adult but I tell you what I will be other than a nice handsome boy, I will be your love and your devoted companion. My siblings and I were dropped off in a very remote area of Middle Tennessee on some man's property and he was kind enough to feed us and give us water. We didn't have a kennel and we've been wandering in the wood and kind of sleeping wherever we could sleep. Thankfully we were rescued so we wouldn't get run over on the busy country road. I am really looking for a family that will spend some time with me and show me what having a loving family is. I haven't been inside the house very long but I'm already potty trained and learning so quickly how to adapt to a home environment. I'm good with other dogs and fine with cats. I'd love to have kids to play with or just some humans that will be fun and exciting.

Update: Johnny went to his forever home with two little human siblings of his own! We are so excited for this sweet boy!

This handsome 4-month-old boy is called Johnny B Good. Extremely sweet and extraordinarily smart pup that was actually born to a mom in the woods of rural Tennessee and raised miraculously to come out at the age of 3 months and be discovered by rescue people who changed their life. Johnny B is possibly a Mountain Cur mix with perhaps a few different breed combinations that has made him the culmination of an extremely handsome appearance with the compliment of soft fur. Johnny is a very good integrator with other dogs and children and adults with any new experience that comes his way. We are amazed at his resilience and, of course, the miracle that he survived being born to a mother in the woods with no home. All of the puppies in his litter have been friendly and loving, not at all affected by being born so deprived. This handsome boy is 3 and 1/2 months old and weighs 30 lb. currently as of October 15th. We expect this young boy puppy to become a 55 lb. adult dog. He will be a head turner as they say on the runway of dog breed showcases. His extremely handsome and unique looks will only highlight his high intelligence and very sensitive and intuitive character. He is ready to learn any and all that you can teach him. Incoming to Camp Cocoa!!

Meet Gordy! He's an extremely handsome and freckled Australian Shepherd pup that was rescued from an irresponsible backyard breeding situation. He's currently 6 months old and 40 lb. He is neutered and up to date on all vaccinations. This handsome boy is very easy going, great around cats and other dogs. Get your apps in, this guy won't be waiting long for that perfect family for him to join!

Bjorn is the best boy! He is a 4 year old pure bred Norwegian Elkhound who is a a big sweet baby boy. Bjorn likely weighs close to 70 pounds. Bjorn has the best attitude and personality. He has not had much of a start in life- living outside in a kennel and having just his basic needs met- somehow his personality has remained sunny. Norwegian Elkhounds are an old and rare breed- known for their intelligence, loyalty, independence and sensitive nature. He has the happiest face and despite never being away from his home he shined through his photo shoot and gave us the biggest smile. Bjorn gets along well with his dog friends and kennel mates. This boy is going to make some family very happy. He is waiting on a better life, a life where he learns about soft beds, toys and treats and a family's special love.

Update: adopted! Progress like this makes all the hardwork of fostering so worth it, Gertie has made such large strides and she will only do that much better when she has a home to call her own 🙏🙏
