CALLING ALL YOUNG AT HEART ADOPTERS!!
The love that you share with your Young at Heart alum can help us save more senior pets! 💜
Yup, you read that right. Simply telling your adoption story can give other homeless senior pets a chance to start a love story of their own!
When you share how your senior pet's unique love has changed your life for the better with Petco Love, you could help Young at Heart earn $100,000! Together, we can write many more happy stories for frosty-faced dogs and cats in our community. ☺️

As our staff member, Sarah, was reviewing Anya's history to put together a bio sheet, her eye was quickly drawn to a note saying, "Anya enjoys walks."
Now, for a cat, it's very rare we see a note about going for walks. With this new knowledge, Sarah excitedly went out, bought a harness and leash that would be best suited for beautiful Anya, and immediately put it to the test.
Not only was Anya purrfect for her harness fitting, but as soon as she was outside, she was strutting around the property like she owned the place. 🐾💅
Her walk instantly improved her mood, giving her the physical and mental space she needed to relax, the stress of acclimation melting away. It's almost meditative. 🕉 When she returns to her community cat room afterwards, she's calmer, more zen, and better equipped to manage potential stressors (like hangry kitty roommates).
It almost goes without saying that Anya's walks are now implemented into her regular routine here at the adoption center. Whatever we can do to make our seniors feel safer and more comfortable while they're in our care, we're going to do it, and we are able to do it because of the generosity of our community.
Thank you for allowing senior pets like 13-year-old Anya to receive the absolute BEST in their golden years. 💖

8-year-old Margie is large and in charge! 🤎
She is an absolutely gorgeous older gal who loves, loves, LOVES people. When given the choice between human or cat companionship, she is going to pick the human every time. She tolerates other calm cats just fine, but in her ideal world, Margie would be the one and only queen cat in the household. Which is just our nice way of saying she prefers to be the center of attention. 😉
Margie is an incredibly playful girl and she fancies herself a huntress, so she would like a family that wants to spend lots of time batting around all kinds of toys with her - especially ones with feathers!
While she is as sweet as pie, she's not really a lie-in-your-lap kinda cat. She's more likely to walk across your lap to rub her head against your hand or chest, and she will probably choose to relax in a spot near you or next to you when she wants to hang out. She also doesn't enjoy being picked up, so she'd do best in a home with older kids that can understand and respect her boundaries.
Overall she's a lovely kitty girl that would make a wonderful companion. 😽

Sammy's hydrotherapy after his second ACL repair surgery. Way to go, Sammy! 🎉
