Osteoarthritis (OA) is likely the most common cause of chronic pain that you see in your patients. It is estimated that 20% of adult dogs suffer from OA pain, including an estimated 75% of medium- and large-sized dogs. OA is common in our feline friends as well but can be easily overlooked by pet owners. Approximately 90% of cats with OA have radiographic evidence but, because they’re cats and masters at hiding signs of discomfort, only about 40% will actually show clinical signs.¹,²
