We Have Some Exciting and Encouraging News to Share With You!
The Cherokee County Commissioners Have Agreed to Hear Our Appeal!
In their January meeting, the board unanimously voted to hear our appeal. This is a significant step forward, and we are grateful for their willingness to consider our case.

The Appellate Hearing is Set for February 18th at 6:00pm. Once again, after the hearing, we’ll be hosting a BBQ celebration, just like we did after the last hearing. Despite the negative outcome of the previous hearing, it was still such a memorable time. We were able to meet, share hugs, hear your heartfelt stories about your pets, and learn how Sweet Dreams has impacted your lives. It was truly special, and we can't wait to gather again this time, hopefully celebrating a victory. Regardless of the outcome, we’re excited to unwind, enjoy great food, and spend time with amazing people.
Please click the button below to sign up to come to the meeting. You will get an email confirming and click “add to calendar” to add this to your calendar. We need as many supporters as possible to attend this important hearing. Your presence will show just how much this garden means to our community.
Attend in GREEN 🪴 To show unity, we ask that all our supporters attend the hearing in green. We will provide stickers to wear, which will help us stand together in solidarity. Your support is crucial, and we want to make a strong visual impact. At the last hearing, the board asked all supporting the garden to stand up and it was amazing, all but ~2 stood up. It brings me chills and a tear to my eye thinking about it!
Personal Letters of Support Needed:
Once again, If you are able to, please consider writing a personal letter of support. Many of you have already signed our general letter, and we are incredibly grateful for that! However, a personal letter will be placed in a separate pile and is more likely to have an impact, especially if you reside in Cherokee County.
For Cherokee County Residents, the Commissioners want to hear from you! If you are so willing to email your commissioner, that would be influential. If you do send an email to your commissioner, we would be grateful to receive a copy so that we can add it to our case file for further support.
The Commissioners have been very kind and open to hearing our concerns, and we ask that you continue to show that same level of respect and kindness as we move forward. We are not happy with the outcome of the variance board, but we are hopeful for a different panel and a positive result this time around.
A Special Note
Since our last hearing, we have had productive discussions with Harry Johnston, the Chair of the Cherokee County Commission, and Corey Ragsdale, our District Commissioner. They have been incredibly supportive of our project and have shown a strong commitment to finding a solution that allows us to move forward with our Memorial Gardens. Their assistance has been invaluable, and we are optimistic that, with their continued support, we can reach a favorable outcome.
Thank you once again for your patience, your passion, and your unwavering support. We couldn’t do this without you, and we look forward to seeing you at the hearing!
With Utmost Gratitude,
Dr. Amy Crowder
