The Labrador Connection
(TLC) is an all volunteer, foster based network dedicated to the re-homing of unwanted and abandoned Labrador Retrievers into loving, forever permanent homes. We are also committed to educating the public about responsible pet ownership including but not limited to spaying and neutering your pets, training, and proper veterinary care. TLC is committed to helping all friendly labradors, especially seniors & special needs. Everyone else gave up on them but we will not.

Foster or Foster to adopt needed for Bear

Bear is a 4-5 year old boy who had found himself homeless after his owner went into a nursing home and none of the family wanted to “deal” with him. Bear is so loving and wants nothing more than to be your best friend and please you. He is super food motivated. He was taken to the vet and the vet said he had some of the most infected ears she has ever seen. He has been a perfect patient for his ear medication and they are almost completely cleared up. He was also found to be heartworm positive at the same time and has started that treatment as well. Heartworm is not contagious to any human or animal. TLC will continue to pay for his treatment. Let us know if you are able to help Bear, this boy deserves a furever home 💙

Sweet Baby, Lucy—Ready for Adoption

Little Lucy is the original “Energizer Bunny.” She’s a beautiful little girl filled with sugar and spice. Has a super cute tail that’s usually curled over her back or wiggling. Always on the move or taking a nap—there’s really no in between! Curious, intelligent, and food motivated. Loves to learn and responds quickly to positive reinforcement and (like all puppies) will need consistent training, patience, and lots of love, after all, she’s just 12 weeks old. She is working on house training, crate training, and basic manners. Knows “sit” and is working on “stay”. Loves playing with people and her doggie siblings. Lucy loves all toys but especially loves balls-tennis balls, doggie footballs, squeaky balls. Lucy would love a family that can spend time with her and give her lots of attention, playtime, and exercise. With time and training she could be a great walking, hiking, or running buddy. Or just a great addition to your family. If you’re ready to “play ball”—Lucy’s your pup!

Diva is a super sweet, 11 week old, black lab mix. All of her siblings have already found their furever homes. She is working on kennel training and with some consistency she will be a perfect member of your family. She would come on transport on Thursday.

Mickey is a young black lab mix who would love to get out of animal control like his sister. Him and his sister were found as strays. He is said to be amazing with dogs and kids. He is already vetted. If you are able to foster Mickey let us know!! This boy deserves a forever home!!! ♥️

🚨🚨🚨VERY URGENT🚨🚨🚨

Bear is in need of a foster or foster to adopt home! He is in southern illinois and with all the bad weather the Good Samaritan who took him in because his owner went into a nursing home, is without power.

Bear is an appx 4-5 year old male. He is said to be super sweet and good with other dogs. Unknown about cats. He does need to learn some manners so will jump up when excited. He is very willing to learn and eager to please you. He would come up on Thursday.

SAFE!! Coming to TLC!

🚨FOSTER OR FOSTER TO ADOPT NEEDED!!

This guy is an appx 1 year old yellow lab mix who wandered into a Good Samaritan’s yard and they can’t keep him, but what to find a warm, safe home for him. He is around 50 lbs and is great with their dogs, cat, and kids. Because he is a stray we really don’t know much else about him. He would come on Thursday via a TLC transport. TLC will pay for his vetting at one of our approved vets once he is in his foster or foster to adopt home. 🐾

Meet Jewel! She is a sweet 11mo female chocolate lab mix who will be spayed and vetted next week and ready for her forever home. Good with dogs and cats. On the smaller side weighing 48 lbs. Crate trained and walks well on the leash. Apply today if you’re interested in meeting Jewel.

What a way to start off 2025 by announcing Randall’s adoption! Randall’s foster took him in back in June and got him through heartworm treatment. Unfortunately he still tested positive and we had to do a few months of preventative but then he was finally negative and his adoption could be finalized. Guess who adopted him??? His amazing foster family. He is so loved as you can see.

As we say goodbye to 2024, we’re filled with gratitude for an incredible year of saving so many lives! Thanks to our amazing volunteers, adopters, and supporters, 164 dogs found their forever homes. 🏡 Your unwavering support made this possible and we couldn’t have done it without you!

Here’s to even more happy tails in 2025 as we continue our mission to give more dogs their second chances. And if this is the year you are looking to get involved, we are always looking for volunteers and fosters.

ADOPTED!! Ready for adoption….Moey 🐾 Moey is a 12 week old black lab mix. He is a typical, happy go lucky puppy. He loves other dogs and is fine with cats. He is a normal pup that needs to continue working on house training and needs exercise to tire his puppy brain out. He is crate trained and good in the car. He LOVES cuddling with you on the couch or your bed and will watch Christmas movies with you🎄 picture in comments

The reason people fall in love with breed. She was found by a Good Samaritan and kept safe during her stray hold and now she is in need of a foster or foster to adopt. She is great with kids, dogs, and cats. She is also housebroken. She would come up on Tuesday on our transport.

Ready for adoption…Blackjack aka Cash This boy was saved from animal control when he was going to be euthanized due to space. He is around 2 years old and just got a clean bill of health from the vet. He LOVES other dogs and humans. He wants to please you so bad and just needs to be shown what is expected of him. He is a young lab so he does have lots of energy, he would love to go to training classes with you, fall hikes, or walks around the neighborhood. He is crate trained and good in the car. This boy deserves his furever home!

Max and Chloe came from an unfortunate situation… their owner had passed away and the family dumped them at the shelter. They were scared, shut down and stressed there. TLC has 2 wonderful fosters step up for them and they are currently living 20 min apart. They haven’t seen each other in a few weeks but today they were reunited! 🥺 They recognized each other right away and now know that the other is safe and happy. It must have eased their minds. And we know their owner is looking down and so happy her dogs are loved and taken care of. Now we must find them their forever homes so if you are interested, apply today. Thelabconnection.org/adopt
