All she could think about was owning a horse one day. Her parents told her that it would be impossible. She worked hard, went to college and began to make some extra money that she poured into horseback riding lessons. Then she leased horses. The elusive horse ownership seemed impossible.
She would go to the lesson barn at 7 AM volunteering to pick stalls, feed the horses, water horses, and of course graze the many horses. The whole time, she was dreaming of owning a horse.
It would keep her up at night. She would toss and turn over each riding lesson and each mistake. She would re-ride a course in her mind, correcting her faults until she was perfect.
She bought curry combs, brushes, even a brand new bridle in anticipation of owning a horse of her own.
Everyone knows, a teacher cannot afford a horse. But this dream was a burn that seared her heart with the determination to eat hot dogs for the rest of her life if she could just own a horse.
Then the opportunity of a life time happened. $1,500 for a skinny Thoroughbred Cross and a saddle that no longer had knee rolls. Raise Your Dreams was everything that she could ever want in a horse.
She put the shiny new bridle on his beautiful, intelligent face. She groomed him for hours. Usually at the barn at 6:00 AM and then she would ride, groom, graze her horse, and give those around her encouragement. Afterall, she did the impossible- she achieved horse ownership!
This horse taught her more about life, love, compassion, care, and integrity. He glistened in the sun and his gorgeous character kept everyone laughing at his ability to open stalls, take down fences, and chase chickens. She learned patience and forgiveness on his broad back.
Then she realized that if she could own a horse, just maybe she could own a farm.
By herself with God by her side, she went after another elusive dream- a beautiful farm.
Today, this girl owns NINE horses and a stunning farm.
I am here to tell you, that YOU CAN DO IT TOO!
Go after those dreams and believe that YOU CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST JESUS!
Be encouraged and full of hope, you can do whatever you need to do in life!
