Position Summary:
Store Managers at E&H Ace Hardware are responsible for the complete day-to-day operation of the store. They play a pivotal role in maximizing store sales and profitability while managing
expenses. This role involves ensuring optimal stock levels and merchandising, with a strong focus on providing excellent customer service. A Store Manager also contributes significantly to
the growth and development of the management team and store associates.
Major Responsibilities:
The major responsibilities for this position include:
1. Drive Sales Performance: Ensure that all customers are acknowledged promptly, their project needs are met, and concerns are resolved efficiently to drive store sales.
2. Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and develop retail staff with the goal of fostering growth and success in their positions. Provide regular performance feedback and recognize accomplishments.
3. Supervision: Coordinate the overall supervision of retail staff to ensure sales performance goals are met, and procedures are accurately followed.
4. Inventory Management: Regulate retail inventory to reduce shrinkage, maintain appropriate stock levels, and ensure report accuracy.
5. Logistics and Inventory Flow: Direct the shipping, receiving, and inventory flow for the store, ensuring efficient operations.
6. Scheduling: Forecast scheduling needs to meet customer demand and create work schedules that optimize staff resources.
7. Visual Merchandising: Delegate daily workload among associates to meet merchandising and visual presentation standards, enhancing the customer shopping experience.
8. Safety: Enforce safety policies and procedures and serve as a safety role model for the team.
9. Knowledge of Policies and Compliance: Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of E&H Hardware’s personnel policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with federal and state labor laws. The Store Manager is responsible for the
proper administration of these policies.
10. Community Engagement and Corporate Responsibility: Understand the importance of community relations and E&H Hardware’s role as a responsible corporate citizen
within the market area. Actively engage with local communities, organizations, and leaders to enhance the store presence and contribute to positive community initiatives.
11. Risk Management and Store Appearance: Conduct risk assessments to ensure the safety and well-being of customers and staff. Emphasize good housekeeping practices and maintain the overall appearance of the store, including the sales floor, backroom,
common areas, exit, and entrance.
12. Driving Record and License: Possess a clean driving record and maintain a valid driver's license. This is important for any responsibilities that may involve store-related travel or transportation needs.

Minimum Requirements:
The minimum requirements for this position include:
- Education/Training: High School degree, with some college preferred. Possess extensive product knowledge of hardware-related products and a strong willingness to learn.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of retail management experience, with previous retail leadership experience required.
- Skills/Knowledge: Strong leadership and analytical skills, effective communication (verbal and written), problem-solving abilities, and organizational skills. Proficiency in retail computer systems, MS Word, and Excel is a plus.
- Availability: Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of the business. Minimum required 1 closing shift and 1 weekend day each week.
Physical Requirements:
The minimum physical requirements for this position include:
- Ability to stand for an extended period of time.
- Capability to move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store, which entails lifting and performing all functions as set forth.
- Job responsibilities may change based on the needs of the business.
In accordance with our policy for promotion from within, qualified active Full-Time employees will be given priority over other candidates, both internal and external. We aim to balance our Full-
Time – Part-Time mix between stores and departments, align available hours with current business needs, and enhance customer service and productivity. Candidates will be evaluated based on various factors, including:
- Available Work Schedule: The ability to work a 5-day, 50-hour per week schedule, including 1 closing shift and 1 weekend day required.
- Previous Work Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of management experience and extensive product knowledge of hardware-related products, along with a willingness to learn.
- Physical Demands: The capability to perform lifting, carrying, bending, stooping, pulling, and pushing with repetitive lifting up to 50 pounds, with occasional lifting up to 80 pounds.
- Other Work Considerations: Strong customer and organizational skills, productivity, the ability to work with minimal supervision, task prioritization, reliability, and dependability. The candidate should also demonstrate potential for advancement within the Ace Department and be open to relocation if required.
