You’d be surprised by how much they are communicating with us through their body language, we’re often just too busy to notice.

The horses and I are settling back into our everyday routine after an action packed week of mounted shooting in Tennessee! 🤠 It was honestly a great start to the season. Bluebell brought home a buckle and I hauled my upcoming futurity horses along for the ride to experience the show atmosphere.

As always, it was a great time catching up with friends and I would like to give a special shout out to Pamela Tolbert Lohrey for her work on Bluebell at the show and helping her feel her best!

We are looking forward to many more competitions this year with great people and horses! 🐎 Let’s get after it!!

As we stroll into the Christmas weekend I wanted to take a moment to share on something that stands out to me…. The present 🎁 😎🤠

Remember, don't rush time, relax. Take a moment to unwind, enjoy the present, and embrace the calmness around you.

Let go of the stress and find peace in the simple pleasures of life no matter what they may be.

If you don’t have enough time to be present minded when working/riding your horse it may be a good idea to just take the time instead to just groom them, talk with them, and put them away. If you work them in a rushed state of mind you may not accomplish what your goal was to begin with. Then you would have more stress on your mind.

As the end of the year comes up, take time to reflect on what you did accomplish this year and make a plan going into the new year!

We spend so much time pushing these animals to perform for us… They don’t care or even know what they are doing in an arena full of people watching! They sure can feel your energy and the energy around them. So if you are one that struggles with getting anxious or having anxiety when it comes time to perform I can share what helps us out…..
We spend more time on trail rides and less time drilling the patterns in their heads… those hours and hours spent loping circles are more then likely to calm Your nerves not theirs…

So next time you Goto a performance… find time to Goto the arena alone and take your horse there and just sit still…. Either on their back or on the ground….. it will help both of you to FEEL a good energy in that arena prior to the event and the next time you go in there, you might be surprised how much better your horse is in there if they were allowed to relax prior to being shown….

Patience is a virtue! Ever heard that before? It is something that is often discussed in the Bible. In fact, patience is one of the fruits of the Spirit listed in Galatians, the Bible also teaches that patience is an important aspect of our relationship with God and our relationships with others. One of the most well-known verses about patience is found in James 1:3-4, which says, "For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.

So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.

Nothing good is ever formed without patience. When you rush, force, even manipulate your horse into doing what you WANT… the bond is broken and then the spirit is broken with it.
Why do you think they refer to starting a horse as “breaking” them? It’s breaking that wild untamed spirit that is so powerful if channeled correctly!
Learn to listen and “feel” what your horse is telling you… Stay a strong leader but humble partner to your horse… compromise once in a while and you will be amazed at how much your horse ends up trying their heart 💜 out for you!

Beyond grateful for my equine friends as I learn something new from them daily!

As a horse trainer , I know that consistency is key. No matter how tough the day may be or how challenging the circumstances, I must always show up for my horses. 🐴💪

Remember, horses rely on us to guide them, teach them, and provide the care they need. We have a responsibility to be there for them, rain or shine, every step of the way. 🌧️☀️

So, let's make a promise to ourselves and our horses: We will never fail to show up. We will be there with patience, resilience, and unwavering dedication. Together, we will overcome any obstacle and continue to build the strong bond that makes our partnership truly special. 🤝❤️

Not too long ago I was faced with a choice that changed the trajectory of my life!! Growing up Amish is a great simple lifestyle but I had a dream and that meant making a decision that changed everything for me….
