I'd like to warn those who still aren't aware of ALL the counterfeit Seresto Collars flooding the pet market! Online & in stores. It is truly heartbreaking that these counterfeits have been making pets seriously ill & my heart goes out to these owners & their pets. Unfortunately alot of the counterfeits look identical to the real Seresto Collars(sometimes their even packaged in the REAL Seresto collar tins)so I hope this post will help owners & their pets & maybe even save some pets lives! Here are a few ways to tell them apart:
REAL - Have no expiration date on tin
- No odor/very minimal odor
- Have a white powdery residue
- Neat lettering/print on side of tin
- Have a lot # on the tin & on collar ( Although sometimes the fake ones could have this too, so if in doubt at all or not sure call Elanco(who bought out Bayer) to verify the lot # in their system)
FAKE - Might have an expiration date on
the tin
- Strong odor from the collar
- No white powdery residue on
collar
- Might have poor quality
lettering/print on the side of the
tin (looks wavy)
- If its alot cheaper than the usual
price, its too good to be true
*** When I spoke to Bayer years ago I was told that the ONLY places they could gaurantee the Collars are the REAL Seresto Collars are from Chewy.com or the Vet.***
I recently spoke to Elanco & they told me they added Petco & Petsmart as well, but I still ONLY purchase mine from Chewy.com or my Vets & none of my dogs have ever had ANY issues at all in the 11 years they've been using them, along with any of my family members pets, my friends pets or my clients pets as long as their purchased from these legitimate places.
NEVER buy them from Ebay or Amazon!!
