Im really trying to do better with recording training.. but.. this is Clair, super fearful/suspicious shelter pup from Texas. We all know one.. they don’t like really anything. They don’t trust humans. They have a hard time relaxing in any environment. We’ve just been observing how she plays with other dogs so we can tap into her play style, and getting her out on walks and trying to let her tap into her dogness. It’s working! We have had to force her out of her comfort zone a on a few non negotiables (like walks, which she would rather not do but will propel her forward), otherwise we are trying to meet her where she’s at. Shes not a danger to people or dogs- there’s no need to push faster than she needs to be- but I’ve definitely nudged her forward a few times. The video is of her running like a mad woman around her mom… who she wouldn’t even go near when they first brought her home. Excited to see where she is in a few short weeks!

Picture 1: “leave it”… because my toddler kindly dumped a container of cheezits on the floor. They must taste better that way because this is a daily occurrence. And, I need my dog to “leave it” for many reasons, but Santinos food, toys, and space are his. End of story. Do I let him feed them snacks sometimes? Yes. Do I let them clean up his mess on the floor sometimes? You bet. Do I have to worry that they will steal his food? No. Push him over when they are rushing into the pile of food on the floor to sn**ch it up? No. Get in a fight trying to get to it before the other dog? No. This is much safer, and in my opinion much more fair to the dogs. I see too many professionals telling people their dog has to spend eternity behind a baby gate while the owners feed them treats for not biting the kids. Oh and pic 2 was my bad for forgetting I told her to leave it, and then forgetting to clean it up for 15 mins 😬 so I let her clean up the cheezits after being such a good girl.

I wanted to reintroduce myself and my business as I’ve been on maternity leave for a minute.
I’m Steph! Owner of Howl Mountain Dog Training. I’m mobile, I come to
your home to start and then we make our way to parks, the woods, school bus stop- whatever is needed for you and your dog. I also do group obedience classes, group hikes and off leash training just over the CT line.
Reactivity, loose leash walking, fearful dogs, aggression, you name it and I probably do it- If I don’t, I will know exactly the professional to send you to!

After having a difficult pregnancy and becoming a mum, I realize how important it is to not only have manageable dogs, but a manageable training program. I’ve become passionate about helping mums and soon to be mums get their dogs in tip top shape to join in on family adventures, and of course keep everyone safe and fulfilled.
I want to keep dogs as active members of the family, and keep moms stress level low(er).
