I've got a training meetup Sunday December 7th from 12pm to 2pm in Denmark, Maine.

Limited to 6 dogs; priority given to those who have gone through or are going through training programs with me, and it will be first-come first-serve after that. If you want to bring a human friend, multiple people per dog are welcome, but no more than one dog per person, please.

The cost is $10-$20 suggested donation; no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

We'll be working on-leash (long lines and retractables welcome), and we'll structure this based on what you guys want to work on. Bring toys, food, whatever your dog likes. Bring your training questions, too.

This is not an obedience trial, so don't worry about your dog being on their best behavior as long as they're safe and under control- this is a good opportunity to work through problems in real time. There will be no on-leash greetings, and dogs will have ample space to move around, so dogs who are wary of other dogs or people are welcome.

If you want to sign up, email me at [email protected], text me at 774-701-0112, or private message me or comment below.

Let me know if you have any questions and I'm looking forward to spending time with you all and your dogs!

No idea what I'm doing with this but I like it and Lewey picked it up pretty quick. Impulse bought some bottled raccoon scent (revolting, by the way) and a canvas drag and just sent it. Before we started he was sprinting and howling on an unrelated track in the yard, but didn't seem conflicted when I called him off to do this, which I appreciate.

Had to remind him that high hides exist, which is maybe just because I suck at laying track. If old school hunters weren't relegated to mid 2000s forums I'm sure they'd roast me, but I don't think they could handle the Instagram user interface.

Maybe I'll have a raccoon hat by spring.

Cassius takes an average of about 1.5 reps to learn new things and it's keeping me on my toes.

At our first lesson, his owner took off her rings and handed them to her mom before wrapping the leash around her hand 5 times. Today, she walked him on a loose, 6-foot leash, rings and all. And he gets to experience off-leash freedom now that he's reliably coming when called.

Goose and his owner made the drive from Worcester to the Cape this week to work on off-leash stuff. Lewey was a very patient assistant even though Goose is a large, intact, adolescent male who doesn't really know his size. I think the dogs heard us about 50% of the time over the wind and waves - grateful to have a whistle handy.

(Just a reminder to all my Central Massachusetts clients that beach lessons are an option if you don't mind driving a little bit.)

Real action packed past couple of days. Group hike with , some refresher lessons for a wiggly lab who doesn't like his nails dremeled - don't worry, he's not being sat on, a wiggly cattle dog who doesn't like getting blood drawn, and (not pictured because I'm horrible about documenting new dogs in training) a first lesson with a timid young dog who happens to love fetch so much so that he interacted with the workmen down the street for the first time when he learned that they could throw a tennis ball. Now we're chilling (sleeping).
