(1)

Celebrating more than 25 years, the Pet Rock Festival is an annual event held in the fall each year. It is an afternoon expo/festival that includes live music, vendors, food, contests, and most importantly, more than 150 animal organizations broadcasting their causes.

Proceeds from the festival are distributed to Massachusetts-based animal welfare organizations, including shelters, cruelty watch

dogs and rescue leagues. Regular recipients of our festival include Red Rover/KIND News, Foster Parrots, Animal Legal Defense Fund, Maple Farm Sanctuary and the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA), to name but a few. $1,000, $500 and $250 awards are also handed to rescue groups and shelters that win our coveted “lottery” and “shelter/rescue dog parade” during the festival. Pet Rock Fest has distributed thousands to worthy animal causes in New England. We’ve also given to groups such as Mass. Vest-A Dog, Dog Orphans, the Community Cat Center, the Worcester Animal Rescue League and the Second Chance Animal Shelter. The festival is produced and founded by Pet Rock Fest, Inc., which
is a 501c(3) organization whose mission is to educate, promote and communicate the importance of treating animals with kindness. Our Web site, www.petrockfest.org, and social pages have become a general meeting place for concerned animal lovers to unite and share information and thoughts. On our site and social pages we post animal news, link to important animal related sites, update you on our upcoming festival and most importantly, provide a forum for folks to chat. Please visit our site and communicate with us, and others, often. Get involved. Learn more. And remember, they can’t talk, so we will.

Update: 1/6: Unfortunately there is still no news on missing dog Ada. Her owner is being so incredibly strong. Please continue to keep vigilant and report any information to us, as we ourselves are remaining vigilant while keeping both Ada and her owner in our thoughts.

Update: 1/4: We, nor Ada’s owner, has had any reports or sightings of Ada. More fliers have been posted and disseminated throughout the town and beyond, a feeding station, camera, has been set up near the last place where Ada was seen. Ada is not familiar with Dedham at all. She lives nearly an hour away, so between the cold weather, fear, and the unknown community, our hope remains that she is hiding out to keep warm and safe. We encourage the continuation of checking around your home in this area, maintaining vigilance, and reporting any definitive or possible sightings or leads to us.

We have also alerted numerous veterinary hospitals in the area, and beyond, so that they too can keep aware of any dogs coming into their facilities, fitting Ada’s description.

It is worth mentioning that Ada’s owner has done everything right - immediate reporting and remaining in contact with us, and MDM, the unrelenting posting of fliers, social media posts, and other word of mouth, notifying Ada’s microchip company, ensuring that Ada was always wearing a collar with tags - and that her microchip information was current and accurate in the microchip National database.

Thank you all for your unwavering support for Ada’s safe return!

Missing Dog!

‘Ada’, who also answers to the name, ‘Burrow’ - a 2-year old, 8 lb, fawn-colored Italian Greyhound- has been missing, since she slipped out of a Hillsdale Rd, Dedham, home, where she was staying, around 10:30-11:00pm last evening. She is wearing an embroidered ID collar with tags as well as a Martingale collar.

🐾Please report any sightings to us immediately. 781.751.9106

🐾Please do not chase after her, nor call out loudly to her, as she is very skittish, and such actions will likely cause her to run.

🐾We always recommend sitting on the ground, speaking softly, and allowing a dog in such predicament to do the approaching. Again, in such situation, please call us without delay.

🐾If you live in this neighborhood, please check your garages, porches, sheds, underneath cars, etc, as hiding from both the elements and any noted predators, is often an instinctive choice for lost animals. Again, Ada is only 8 lbs so she doesn’t need a lot of space to hunker down (or ‘burrow’ - which is habit of hers, thus her nickname).

🐾We need a sighting in order to take the next step.

This page has always been a great resource for reporting missing pets- and so we again entrust and appreciate all of your eyes and ears on alert for Ada -for us and her owner.
Thank you all!

Police in Quincy, Massachusetts, are investigating the death of an emaciated kitten that was abandoned in a carrier and found on Christmas Eve. The Quincy Animal Shelter said a woman found the frail kitten in a beat-up carrier on the side of the road in Marina Bay. She took the animal home, but he would not eat, and she brought him to the shelter Wednesday morning.
