We have a special Tuna Tuesday for you all today!
Tuna would like to welcome Dr. Caroline McDermott to our VCA Abbott family 🙂 Born and raised in central Massachusetts, Dr. McDermott received her undergraduate degree in pre-veterinary medicine from UMass Amherst. She then went on to work as a vet tech in Shrewsbury before going on to attend veterinary school at the University of Missouri Columbia. She focused her time in veterinary school gaining experience with small animals and exotics, and returned home to Massachusetts after vet school to put her new skills into practice. Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. McDermott loves hiking, movies, games, and spending time with her family, including their family pets- a senior dog and cat.
Dr. McDermott will start seeing patients this Wednesday. We are so happy to have her join us!

We had such a fun night celebrating Woofster’s birthday at Polar Park! We raised over $300 again for the Sterling Shelter :)
This baseball season, we raised a total of almost $1,000 for this shelter, thanks to all of your generous donations spinning our wheel for great prizes. See you next year, Woo Sox!!

We had a blast at Bark in the Park Sunday at Polar Park. VCA Abbott and VCA Westboro representing :) Rain cleared and it was a beautiful afternoon. We raised over $300 to support our friends at Sterling Shelter. Can’t wait for the next event in August! Yay doggies!!

We would love to introduce you to our OLDEST patient here at VCA Abbott! This is MERLIN and he 76 years old! He is a gorgeous blue and gold macaw. His new owners have had him for 8 years now and take wonderful care of him. He is truly one of the sweetest and gentlest birds we have ever seen. He was an absolute joy to have for his visit.
Adult blue and gold macaws typically live between 30 and 35 years in the wild. When captive as pets or cared for at zoos, these birds can live upwards of 50 years. Some have even been known to be over 100 years old.

Macaroni just loves modeling and promoting Pill Pockets! He loves eating them even more ;) These are great for disguising tablets and capsules if you need to give your dog or cat medication. They are super tasty and most pets love them. Feel free to come in and ask Macaroni if he will share some with you and your pet 🙂
