Is there such a thing as the “runt” of a litter? 🐾Technically, by definition, the runt of a litter is the smallest weakest puppy. 🐶 Born in the wild, this puppy would have a hard chance of surviving as it competed with its stronger brothers and sisters for nutrients. 🐾 However, most often this is not the case today with domesticated breeds that receive love, attention, and care from their owners! 🐾 Just because a puppy is born smaller than the rest does not mean it is weak or unhealthy. When breeding, dogs have a window of time for conception. Therefore in a healthy litter, some puppies may have been conceived on the first day of breeding and others may have been conceived three days later. 🐾 Most often today’s runts are smaller simply because they are developmentally a few days behind their brother and sisters. But they are vigorous and healthy, just a bit smaller. And given the extra care and attention they receive, they quickly catch up to hold their own with their brothers and sisters. 🐾

Camry's puppies are 7 weeks old today. They are doing so well. Using the doggie door. Going to the bathroom outside ( mostly). Got their nails trimmed again. And so playful. Shots and vet check next week. 🐾

Camry's puppies are 6 weeks old today. They have found the doggie door and have enjoyed some outside time. Learning how to use the bathroom outside too. 👏 They are getting big and playful.
All Camry's puppies are spoken for.

"Having a dog is linked to lower risk of death over the long term. In 2019, a systematic review gathered evidence published over 70 years, involving nearly four million individual medical cases. It found people who owned a dog had a 24% lower risk of dying from any cause compared to those who did not own a dog.

Dog ownership was linked to increased physical activity. This lowered blood pressure and helped reduce the risk of stroke and heart disease.

The review found for those with previous heart-related medical issues (such as heart attack), living with a dog reduced their subsequent risk of dying by 35%, compared to people with the same history but no dog."

We decided on a theme and names for Camry's puppies. "Disney Dogs 🐾" My grandkids always like to name the puppies. Of course these names will only stay with them until their forever families give them their forever names. We do still have one male available.
