Day 1 at the Middletown Grange Fair ! We're ready
The calm before the fair - the Middletown Grange Fair, Aug. 14 - 18. The UP team gets those seedlings planted, fattens up the fish, and tidys up the exhibit in anticipation of the thousands of attendees who will pass through.

Busy weekend of UP networking and sales. First - Spring Social Mixer at Chimney Hill/fundraiser for UrbanPonics (thank you Cogent Connections and Hilary Spivak!) and mucho sales of our beautiful wooden planter boxes at the Wrightstown Farmers Market!
Hun School's elective garden class visited Bucks County Technical High School 's Floral and Landcaping classroom today to view their aquaponic set up. UP educator Merrill Pierce answered all their great questions and a couple BCTHS juniors gave the visiting class a tour of the greenhouse and garden.
Today at the Hun School, UP introduced the basics of hydroponics to the elective class, "Rad Day - Not Your Typical Garden". Students then went on a scavenger hunt for hidden information about various hydroponic technologies, later we discussed grow media combined with different systems, crop/plant options, and ended with the students designing their own hydroponic gardens and presented them to the class. An awesome day! Stay tuned for day 2 at Hun.
This week, connecting with PA legislators and spreading our UP message and mission of educating on hydro/aquaponic benefits: job opportunities in vertical growing, contributing to economic development and transforming the way we acquire our food. Here, UP founder Webb Stone introduces himself to State Senator Frank Farry and St. Rep Kristin Marcell at a news conference regarding work choice rights of individuals with disabilities. UP advisor Jay Belding hosted the event at Associated Production Services where he is executive director.
The search is on for a permanent UP home. The team takes a look at an old warehouse built in 1850. Lots of space and natural light but needs A LOT of work...
Meet Chris Nelson, a sophomore at Bucks County Technical High School. He's our go-to maintenance person on the aquaponics unit in the Floral and Landscape Department this year. Here, he assists Web, UP founder, in locating a leak and switching out a pipe earlier this week - getting ready for planting this spring's crop.

Enlightening the residents of Pine Run Retirement Village about hydroponic growing at their Octoberfest event. Our ZipGarden unit made quite an impression! This small hydroponic system can grow an abundant harvest of many leafy greens and herbs in a small space - perfect to display near the dining commons of this community.

George School's Applied Technology and Botany class visited UP yesterday to get an education about the full spectrum of aquaponic and hydroponic growing systems and engaged in a lively discussion about new-world agri business and food sustainability.

This year's senior class in the Bucks County Technical High School landscape and floral Department tours UP's exhibit at the Grange, inspiring them to continue to develop their school's hydro/aquaponic curriculum that we helped create last year.
Lots happening at the grange today: Our Saturday UP weekly round up meeting, discussing strategy, upcoming events, etc. Meanwhile, Wrightstown Farmers Market on one side and the car show on the other, bringing in lots of visitors to our exhibit.
Yesterday Terry Ezo came to the grange to officially accept her grand prize winning of a ZipGrow cabinet. Congratulations Terry!!
