FERAL CAT SPAY/NEUTER DAY - September 10th, 2024
Please read all of the info!

We're excited to announce our FERAL/COMMUNITY CAT DAY FOR September 10th, 2024. On this day we are hoping to spay/neuter up to 100 community cats! Here's the details:
- Cats MUST LIVE OUTDOORS PERMANENTLY!
- No appointment necessary! Walk-in appointments accepted THIS DAY ONLY!
- Limit of 3 cats/person/household (For the safety of our patients & high demand of these services we have to implement this limit.)
- Any abuse of this program (bringing a cat that does not reside outside/house pet) will result in termination of future services.

$25 Feral Package includes:
Spay/Neuter
Rabies Vaccine
Ivermectin (dewormer)
Ear Tip
(Other services available for additional costs)

**Discounted pricing thanks to a generous memorial donation.
- Cats MUST arrive in an appropriately sized humane live trap (31"Lx11"Hx9"W), not a standard cat carrier, and no fox or squirrel traps.
- Cats must arrive at the clinic at 8:00am 9/10/2024. No cats will be accepted after 9am
- Discharge the next morning will begin at 7:15am (late fees will apply to pickups that arrive after 8am)
- Refer to our website for check-in/pickup procedures.

We strongly encourage a donation of any of the items listed below to replenish our feral funds/supplies. Our feral program pricing is made possible by donations and we appreciate your contribution.

Mocha is a 7-8 month old sweet kitty that would love to have a home of her own. She is very petite, dainty, and very much a lady. She loves to lay around, stare at birds, and lay in your lap. She would be fine as a single kitty or with a tolerant friend. She can be hissy to new cats at first, but never swatty or pouncey. She would rather run away than engage in a fight. She is considered a dilute tortoiseshell. She's gorgeous. She doesn't mind large or small well behaved dogs. She's a bit too nervous for very young children, she wouldn't be a great fit for toddlers.

Mocha is sterilized, core vaccinated, rabies vaccinated, on revolution flea/tick, combo tested negative, and dewormed. Her fee covers medical $140

(She comes with- toys, 20 lbs of her dry food, 5 cases of wet cat food, and 2 containers of litter. )

Attention Community.....

No one should be trapping any cats for TNR without a plan. These are the steps....
1. Secure Appointment for surgery.
2. Secure and have a plan for holding for 24-48 hrs.
3. Trap day prior to appointment.
4. Drop Cat at appointment.
5. pick up cat from appointment.
6. Hold cat for observation 24 hrs (TNR usually hold overnight) plan accordingly. During this time we give dewormer , antibiotics, and flea prevention (oral mixed in food or use a fork and inject antibiotics) . .
7. Release back .

With all clinics removing walk ins- this is the new reality. Do not trap without appointments or you'll be releasing cat back, and will be much harder to secure again. If you trap a tipped cat, give dewormer and vaccine if you are capable.

I know it sucks, I'm telling people we can't help. This is an impossible situation for us. We can secure regular appointments at $137 for animals in Rescue , we can't do this leg work for everyone else, without walk in spots. So,we're no longer able to help in trapping. We can't spend hours looking for tnr appointments. This is a giant population problem, and it's everyone's responsibility to help. You ARE someone that can help.

Rescues are full.
Funds are depleted.
Resources are available with leg work YOU must do.
Cats and dogs are dying due to lack of helpers.

We can not help your cats in neighborhood issues. Many rescuers are quitting due to being overwhelmed. We mainly take in sick/injured cats from outreach. We do NOT intake from the public.

Big Momma, Sadie, is looking for an older person or couple that will let her sleep in random places throughout the home. She's older herself, at least 8- years old. She was taken in with a 14 year old companion that passed on. She was extremely depressed. She had some medical issues to deal with, but she's healthy, sweet, talkative, and affectionate. She's a doll.

Mocha is under 1 year old female sterilized, combo tested negative, up to date on fvrcp vaccines, dewormed, on flea prevention, and rabies vaccinated. Her adoption fee is $100 to cover some of her medical. She's very petite. And apparently blends into rugs. She's great with other cats, very playful, and sleeps in bed with you. She's working on her people skills, watching how the cats interact and is gaining some confidence. She's going to be a stage 5 clinger! If you're looking for that kind of cat, we got you! Haha

Pearl- aka Brick/Beeeee/BrickyB , kicking wet FIP ass. 3 more weeks, B. Then it's bloodwork to see where we're at. She lost 3lbs of fluid that formed in her abdomen and chest. She was a hard 1st week until the meds took hold. She almost didn't make it. Luckily, her foster fam has treated this monster before. (Romeo is FIP cured and looking for his own home ).

If you're a cat owner, educate yourself on feline infectious peritonitis. It was a death sentence previously but, over the past years meds have been made available. Veterinarians can now prescribe these meds! We've treated 2 , and helped 2 others. This is NOT a death sentence.

We do not fundraise for this. We only fundraise for sterilizations. 90% of this rescue is paid for by our directors. All donated funds go to the clinic for spay/neuters. We hate asking for money. So, we help who we can with our personal funds available. They're worth it. 1 cat at a time. 🩷

If we have committed fosters, we can help. But, you must commit to fostering, working through possible behavior issues, working together with trainers if needed, crate training, belly bands if needed. Fostering can be a lot of work, but you're saving a life. If you can commit to fostering, we can pull. All are part of the outreach partners needs... Message us if you can help.

Funny story.....

Peanut was taken in very sick from a factory where he was at risk of being poisoned by the property owner, last year. It took many weeks to kick the viral infection he came with, and heavy parasite load.

Marmalade (maincoon) is our personal cat. We don't post our personal pets on the page often.

Once healthy and sterilized , we allow cats out into the community( free roam the house). They're combo tested beforehand, sterilized, vaccinated, and quarantined for 14-21 days. This helps teach them how to cat. Our pets are mostly females and very tolerant. The cats/kittens learn how to integrate into a community , and become more confident, socialized, and adaptive.

Peanut decided Marmalade is his mom. She hates it sometimes, but usually she cleans him and allows him to snuggle up to her. Where's peanut? Wherever Marmalade is ...

Our cat adopted a cat and it's pretty funny. He is not a confident fella, so he follows her. It's one of the reasons he hasn't been adopted out. We worry about his well being, as he's so attached to her. I think we need to find him a home with a large female orange cat that would like a best friend man child? I've never had this happen in the years of fostering, ever.

On July 23rd we took in a kitten with burned paws and covered in a sticky black residue, from our outreach partner at MHS. After 3 feet soaks a day, topical and oral meds, and lots of love and care .... He's ready for a neuter and to find a home of his own. He is available to foster to adopt, as long as you can take him to his appointment on September 1st.

He is a lover! We named him Bernie (his feet were burned) and it suits him. Of course, names are meant to be changed. We have to name them for sterilization appointments.

He is a doll!

As of this morning , we were able to connect with our ACO to get some of our cats from the former foster/secretary. She left them there, and we arrived 30 minutes later to take them out, and into fosters.

Crystal and Jenny have the 9 cats, with 1 that was a tnr she took on independently is still in the home . They'll head to the vet for updating medical records, rabies vaccine, and 1 spay. We're happy they're back with us.

Thank you Brian , aco of downriver animal shelter, for helping facilitate the transfer. You are amazing, and we truly appreciate this.

This nightmare is almost over. Thank you Jenny for assisting in the transport and fostering. Much appreciated.

The regular brown tabby and black cats are the most overlooked in shelters/rescue. This majestic kitty cuddle monster, is a cats cat. He's a lap cuddler and bed sleeper, but he loves snoozing with his compadres. He is the most house cat you could ask for. He probably won't catch your flies in the house, but he'll nap with you or cat friends, be 1st to the food bowl, and chase rattle mice. He's busy overseeing operations, checking things out before getting involved. He's a great kitty.

Maybe you know someone that knows someone that mentioned once they wanted to add a cat.

We call him Tubby T , but his government name is Tiny Tim
He is sterilized, up to date on core vaccines, rabies vaccinated, combo tested negative for fiv/felv, dewormed, and on monthly flea prevention. His fee is sponsored with requirements for placement.

This sweet guy was found at the dollar general in Allen Park by Isabel, our volunteer. She took him to his neuter appointment today, and he'll be available for adoption this week. He's a super sweet teenager kitty, and looking for a home of his own. 🩷

These 6 - 4 week olds mom was hit by a car. They're orphaned and we're brought to us by a neighborhood caretaker. We assisted her before with triage, meds, supplies, and couldn't turn these kids away. Every shelter is full, every rescue is saying no. We try and help as room allows. We need more fosters, asap!
