Talent without discipline rarely reaches its full potential. Instinct can be powerful, but requires stewardship and training to be beneficial.

A horse with a lot of natural cow sense can be one of the funnest phenomena to watch, let alone ride. It’s important, however, to understand the fundamental foundation required to fully enable that natural potential.

To be effective, a cowhorse has to have full awareness of their body- flexibility through their hip, rib and shoulder and soft through the face. But even more than the physical abilities, a cowhorse has to have a willing mind; one that’s able to focus and tune out distraction.

Breaking down resistance in the mind and body is critical to enable the natural potential of the cowhorse. The foundation has to be laid in the mind before building the house through the body.

Never underestimate a sound start.
