The store will be closed early today. Between the roads, and temps, hopefully everyone understands. The store temps are set to 75 right now, and though only 2 people have come in, it's still getting cold in here. I will be here a little longer caring for the animals, doors will lock at 3. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Normal hours will resume tomorrow, 11-7.

If you're looking to add to the family soon, tomorrow is a good day! From Saturday to Monday, you can place an animal on hold. But temps will be entirely too low to risk sending them out for the weekend in potential negative wind chills.. As always, you can put them on hold and pickup Tuesday though!

As the 2nd year kicks off, let's see those babies? Who have you brought home from the asylum? How are they doing?

December 15th is the anniversary of the store opening! It's crazy it's been almost a year already! I was still working on grand opening ideas 😅

First, a huge thank you to all of you who have supported Asylum and helped it grow this first year! It has been quite the journey so far, and I'm grateful for all of you who have been along for the ride!

Now the fun part!! I will be celebrating with a giveaway of a ball python AND complete setup! All you have to do is stop in and pick up a gift card between now and December 15th, and keep your fingers crossed! I will draw a winner on the 15th and post the results. Black soldier fly larva are also back 🙂 all of our bug eating babies are enjoying them from dragons to mantids!

The tree frogs are growing quickly, and loaded with personality! They'd love to hop into new enclosures!

Let's talk about beardies and their food for a sec! This is Angry Egg Roll. He wants me to let people know that it is a myth that babies won't eat greens. They need them, and will eat them when provided with the right husbandry. What's that mean? Housed by themselves, not left to compete for food or stressed out/possibly injured. Correct lighting and temperatures. And enough space to grow into. We don't have a ton of beardies for a few reasons. I will not place two of any age together. It is not worth the risks to them. It also gives me a chance to work with them individually. They all eat their greens daily, as well as their bugs. I often hand feed them, and they adjust to someone reaching in from above. I do not want anyone to leave with an animal feeling that they rescued it from the store. I want them to leave knowing they were told how to properly house and care for them. That way the animal thrives, and the new family has a positive experience in keeping. Often times, I hear that someone's dragon is picky, or will only eat bugs. That should not be the case. And usually, if the customer is receptive, I'm able to help them make things better. Please research the places you get your animals. Set yourself and your new baby up for success! I offer a discount on the animals with the purchase of a proper setup also. Come check these littles out, and consider bringing one home! And please, forgive the horrible quality video, I propped a camera outside the enclosure 🙂

How do you prefer to get your springtail cultures? Ours come ready and willing to seed multiple enclosures, and with the care advice to keep them multiplying 😉
