It's national animal control officer appreciation week. We would like to recognize Animal Control Officer Victoria Parks.

National Animal Control Officer Appreciation Week is celebrated every second full week of April. The week is designed to say thank you and to show appreciation to all the animal control officers who are dedicated to helping pets and people in the community every day.

Animal control officers pick up stray animals, but there is more to their job. Officers seek justice in cases of abused, neglected and abandoned animals; they conduct humane investigations and bring in helpless animals. They protect animals from abusers and people from dangerous animals.

The Town of Wytheville prioritizes the health and wellbeing of all companion animals. This is achieved through a three-pronged approach:

Public Education: We educate residents on state laws and town ordinances pertaining to animal welfare, including responsible pet ownership practices.

Compliance: Our Animal Control department works diligently to ensure compliance with these laws and ordinances.

Enforcement: We enforce these regulations for cases of violation.
