Every week, I take Bowie and Gus out on the trails. Since I don't have another rider, I sit on Gus and pony Bowie alongside. It has given him confidence going along with Gus, and it's more fun that we can all explore together. Today, we spent about 2 hours out there on the sandy trails. It takes about 15 minutes to walk from the barn to the trail entrance along the road.

I handed the reins over to Claire today and the two of them had a great ride together. He is definitely the greenest horse she's ever sat on but, in typical Gus fashion, he tried his hardest to do exactly as asked (although he tried to convince her that he still gets to stop at the apple tree....which has been barren for a while.🤷‍♀️)

I took advantage of the photo deal yesterday and bought these 3 photos of Gus at Flying Cross this September. This was his first BN and recognized event and it is fun to compare how much he improved in form in the short time to the Makeover. No doubt he still has his confident baby face expression. 🥰

Gus finished some in hand work with 2 of his favorite stretches on the hill. Mostly, they are his favorites because there is grass involved. 😋

Gus has mostly been on vacation since the makeover, but we traveled to KY today to participate in a hunter pace and play with some obstacles. He was such a good boy exploring all of Masterson Station Park with our partners in crime, Brooke Bailey and Pixie. A little bit of jumping and some cantering across big fields but also took into account that he's not been doing much, and both horses were happy to do some walking and trotting as well.
We then switched gears and played with the obstacles they had set up to school. We started by exploring things in hand, and then I was able to ride him around most of the course at the walk. Lots of brain work for him after the physical exertion of the pace!

Grateful.
To have a happy, sound horse at the end of the season
To be able to hack around this gorgeous facility this morning
To have such an amazing group of friends that have supported this journey
To my incredible family, mainly my mom and kids, who have allowed me to focus on Gus and have come along to be here for every moment of it.
And especially for this horse who has the most amazing brain and will be such an amazing athlete when he sorts his young body out. It's been a rough decade of horses for me and he came along when I needed him most.
