What a sweet update on an equally sweet kitty!

Hi just wanted to give you guys an update on our girl Penelope Garcia after our favorite TV character (formally inky). When she came to us she had just had a litter of kittens and wanted nothing to do with anyone in the house. She warmed up quickly to our other cat and even all of us humans! Getting her already spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped was also a plus. We hope to have many more years with her in our home!

Guillermo is an adorable puppy who was found running around outside the adoption center with his sibling. While our staff was able to catch Guillermo his sibling ran towards the freeway that is right next to our facility and hasn’t been seen since. This is one of the many reason we implore people not to drop off dogs outside our facility, it can be incredibly dangerous for the animals.

Guillermo is an adorable and sweet Pitbull puppy who is around 4 months old. He is very soft and you can’t help but snuggle him. Guillermo has a lot of loose skin so we expect he is going to be a big boy! Come down and meet Guillermo this week or apply to adopt him on our website today!

Here are SOME new faces that either came in this week or became available. If you are looking to adopted please go to our website to learn more about the one you are interested in, if they are still available they will still be post. If the animal is no longer available they will no longer be posted. If you are missing a pet please file a LOST report on our website site so we can cross reference with all animals in our facility and animals that come into our facility into the future, we keep these on file for 30 days.

All of our currently available dogs are on our website. Please check there, if the animal is no longer listed it is no longer available. We recommend you you check the website frequently if you are looking to adopt as it gets updated daily as new animals come in or if adoptions fall through.

In 2024 we took in over 3,700 animals at our facilities and Spayed/Neutered over 7,500 animals at our Spay and Neuter Clinic. While these are fantastic numbers, we hope to be able to help even more animals in our community in 2025 at our Adoption Centers and our Spay and Neuter Clinic. Thank you for all of your support, we wouldn’t be able to do this without you!

Yuki was adopted out as a puppy from us around three years ago, unfortunately, it looks like she is once again searching for her forever home.

Yuki was brought in to us by animal control; we were excited to find she was microchipped and surprised she had been adopted out by us. Her adopters were quickly contacted but they had rehomed her to some friends. They assured us they would contact her new owners who would be down shortly to pick her up, but nobody ever showed up for her or contacted us about her.

Yuki is a very sweet girl who is only three years old, she just has some premature greying around her muzzle. Looking back on her puppy pictures you wouldn’t even know that was the same dog! She is understandably a bit unsure as to why she is back with us but looks to staff for reassurance that everything will be okay. If you are interested in this brindle baby please check our website to learn more about her or contact our adoption center. Yuki can go home today!

What a fantastic update!

Dear Staff & Volunteers,

Thank you for your dedication to cats and dogs in need. I am Falkor’s human and so grateful to have him. Please enjoy a collection of photos from the past 2 months since he came home with me. He brings me joy every day!

While he liked the cat-sized royal couch, he chose the human-sized green one for his daily naps. He’s not a fan of Halloween outfits (but he tolerated it), and he loves any excuse to cuddle (boundaries be darned).

Love this distinguished gentleman!

Fostering saves lives!

This little kitten was found all alone. When kittens and puppies are under eight weeks old they require foster homes until they are old enough to adopt. Thankfully, one of our amazing staff members offered to foster this cutie so we were able to get her the care she needed, but we need help. Please consider becoming a foster today so we can help more kittens and puppies that need us. All supplies are provided and we do all the vetting, they just need a warm place to stay. Apply to foster on our website.

Freddie is a handsome Catahoula Leopard/Shepherd mix looking for his forever home.

Freddie has a stunning Merle coat and handsome gold eyes with a fleck of blue. He came from a house that had too many dogs and was quickly getting overwhelmed as they continued to breed. Freddie is coming more and more out of his shell the longer he is with us so we can only imagine how quickly he will progress in his forever home. He is a good boy who just needs someone to spend a little time with him, if you think you are that person come down and meet him today or go on our website and check out his bio.

Magnolia and Annie are looking for homes and need a little help from social media to find them.

These two girls are extremely shy and don’t currently want much to do with people. They are in our catio but you wouldn’t know it from a glance since they are always hiding in boxes. This doesn’t mean they might not open up in a quiet home with someone giving them space but we think they may make good barn cats. They came in separately and would be happy to be adopted separately but could go together. Please share so we can get these girls out of the shelter where they are very clearly not thrilled to be.

This last week we took in 32 animals and had 58 success stories! What fantastic numbers. While it might seem as though we didn't take in many cats, our kennels are still pretty full of kitties because we had several litters return from foster. We are hoping the will be adopted out this week and we will have room to take in many more! Bourbon is one of our new faces that came in last week and is hoping to find herself a forever home this week.

Our dogs from one of our single runs got some treats and wanted to say hi! Every single kennel on this run is full. We are almost always at capacity, especially for medium/large breed dogs, so if you are looking to adopt a dog that size you have plenty of great puppers to choose from. If you find a dog we still encourage you to reach out as we can place you on our waitlist and provide other resources to help. You are always welcome to swing by during open hours and have an animal scanned for a chip as well as file a FOUND report on our website.

If the animal is no longer listed it is no longer available. If you are missing a pet please file a LOST report on our website. As always we are extremely full on medium and large dogs. Due to the holidays adoptions are down, which happened every year. Here is a video of one of our double runs. If you see a cutie you are interested please go to our website to find and learn more about them. Better yet, you can come down in person and see them for yourself! Can’t adopt? Come and walk one of our dogs. All you need is to be over 18 and have a valid ID. We hope to see you soon.

When Nova’s previous owners were told she was at the Humane Society they said they were fine with that, that’s why they left her at the park because they now have puppies they would rather have.

Unfortunately, this is a story that plays out again and again… But it was still a shock to hear it said so plainly. Nova still has a lot of life and energy in her at four years old and makes us smile everyday, we don’t know how someone could trade her for the world! She needs to loose a bit of weight to be healthy but that shouldn’t be hard as this girl loves her zoomies. She even does the cutest dance when excited. Check out her bio to learn more about Nova and contact our adoption center with further questions.

We love updates!!!!

Just wanted to send an update on our latest family member adopted from the Yakima Humane Society! We took John Wayne, lovingly known now as "Big John" home in June and just can't imagine life without him now. He's the sweetest, smartest, goofiest guy around. He is curious about EVERYTHING, loves his humans and fits in great with our other two dogs. He has become the best hiking partner of all time and is living his best life playing on our property and going on adventures. Thank you so much for all the work you do♥️
