We’re all set up and looking for loving homes for some of our adorable dogs! Join us today, December 20th, for a Yakima Humane Society Adoption Event at Coastal Farm & Ranch.

📍 2112 S 1st St, Yakima, WA 98903
🕚 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM

We have some sweet pups ready to go home today, including Roxanne (not pictured—she’s currently out on a walk with staff at the store!), Mochi, and Tux. Come meet these wonderful dogs, fall in love, and find your new best friend.

You’ll also have the chance to meet our amazing staff and learn more about the programs and services we offer here at Yakima Humane Society.

🐾 Foster Spotlight for December: Samantha Leavitt 🐾

Our fosters are absolutely amazing and play a vital role in the work we do here at the Yakima Humane Society. Without our foster families, we wouldn’t be able to help nearly as many animals as we do—and we are so grateful for each and every one of them.

For the month of December, we are thrilled to spotlight Samantha Leavitt! Samantha joined our foster family in 2020 and has a special love for fostering kittens in need. She shared that she enjoys having the companionship of animals in her home, while knowing her foster kittens will soon move on to their forever families. This allows her to open her home and heart to help even more animals in need.

Below are just a few photos of some of the kittens Samantha has fostered over the years.

🎄 Home for the Holidays… Could Adam or Mozart Be the Ones? 🎄

Finding homes for large-breed dogs is one of the biggest challenges we face—especially during the busy holiday season. Big dogs often get overlooked, even when they have the biggest hearts. Today, we want to shine a spotlight on two wonderful pups who are still waiting for their chance at a cozy home: Adam and Mozart.

🐾 Adam is our calm, unsure gentleman—quiet, observant, and full of gentle loyalty. He tends to stay close to his handlers, looking for comfort and security. With patience and kindness, Adam will blossom into a steadfast companion who sticks by your side.

🐾 Despite Mozart being abandoned multiple times along the Greenway, this resilient boy has managed to keep a smile on his face and a loving heart for everyone he meets. Mozart now enjoys the warmth and comfort of the adoption center, and he absolutely loves attention. Sweet, caring, and gentle, he's ready to find a forever home where he can finally feel safe, loved, and cherished. amazing boy deserves a family that will never let him down again.

✨ Adam and Mozart have the same holiday wish, to finally have a family of their own.

Every number represents a life touched, and none of this would be possible without your continued support 💙

And since I’m here… let me properly introduce myself!
I’m a happy, social young guy with a soft tan coat and natural charcoal “eyeliner” that people can’t stop talking about. I love to play, explore, and enjoy life to the fullest — and once I’m done having fun, I’m all about the snuggles. Seriously, I give great cuddles.

🎄🐾 A Huge Thank You to Our Amazing Community! 🐾🎄

We want to send out a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who participated in our Giving Tree this year. It was a wonderful success, and both our staff and our dogs have absolutely loved every moment of it!

Seeing the joy on our dogs’ faces as they received gifts chosen just for them has been incredibly special. The love and generosity from our community truly means the world to us. ❤️

Every single pet name on the Giving Tree was taken — twice! Because of your kindness, so many of our animals felt extra spoiled and cared for this season.

As a special touch, once gifts are brought in with the tree tag, the gifter receives an email with a photo of “their” pet enjoying the donation — a little thank-you straight from the paws themselves! 🐶📸

From all of us (two-legged and four-legged), thank you for making this such a joyful and memorable experience. 🐾✨
