❄️ Taking deposits on January stalls! ❄️

Open to c**t starts, mules, gaited horses, ranch prospects, horses needing cow exposure, outside trail / working experience, and etc. Or come board with us and get some extra lessons in this winter!

We will have some opportunities to get horses exposed to warm up pens at shows as well this winter! 🎪

Board includes a deeply bedded stall, eastern alfalfa, sand arena, as well as beet pulp, rice bran, and triple crown balance included.

Lights for show coats, Hot / cold wash rack, indoor bathroom, and outside riding weather permitting. Cows & string cow practice on site! 🐄

🐾🐾 DOG POLICY 🐾🐾

We have always had a no outside dogs policy at the barn but have been lenient in the past with late night dog visits and dogs staying in the car / trailer.

Going forward we are going to ask that NO DOGS come on the property at all, due to recent safety concerns and kennel cough going around 🐾

As much as we love dogs, if you come on the property with a dog, you will be asked to leave.

Sometimes a sense of humor and a genuine thank you goes a long way, with horses and people.

One of my favorite horsewomen and cowgirls ever would often soften with a horse in crisis to say “you can do this!” And give them a big thank you when they would always, magically suddenly give a big try after her words.

I used to think that was silly, now I see it wasn’t that they knew the words or to baby them - but so they could feel you were on their team.

Who needs a gelding that makes you smile every time you ride?

Pete’s Kruiser is a 2007 TWH Gelding standing a little over 14.2H with good bone and a kind eye. This guy is sound, sane, and smooth with multiple hall of fame and world grand champions on his papers.

Kruiser has been raised with good handling and does everything a good horse should. Easy to tie, haul, bathe, clip, hobble, you name it. He is barefoot and no current maintenance.

He haunch turns, backs soft, has a head shake and loose back end. I can trail ride him through brush, ditches and banks, water, and pony a c**t while I’m doing it. He is so eager for a please in everything he does.

He is suitable for a youth, first horse, or someone who just wants to enjoy a GOOD horse.

I can confidently say he has no buck, bite, rear, kick, or even an ear pin on this guy. He is a Labrador in a horses body and just wants his own person to go on adventures with.

He will come with discounted board and training to get the new owner going with him if desired.

Congrats to Hammer Down Pepinic this week as well!

He held his own with some Top 5 placings, 10’s on his score sheet, brought home a check in the pairs ride jack pot, and ponied the baby in the warm up pen like a champ.

We just came with the idea of settling his mind a little before cowhorse season and he was a rockstar that never once refused or said no.

We will have fresh cows, good footing, and lots of fun!

We will start with some dry work drills, string cow practice, then end with live cattle practice. First time horses / riders are welcome!

🌲🌲🌲 NOVEMBER OPENING 🌲🌲🌲

We have one more November stall available for a c**t start, part, or full time training!

Horse will be exposed to live cattle, and the work that comes with checking fence, moving herds, opening gates, etc. We also utilize the river crossings & mountain trail course on site in our regular training.

( We would be open to a boarder taking lessons as well through the winter! )

We got some “winterizing” done on the outside trail course adding bark dust around the obstacles, widening the tunnel, and adding some new ditches, balance beams, and water box! 🌲

I have a lot of people who are needing help working on their horses habits out on the trail, and people with young horses needing a group to build a good outdoor foundation.

We have some nice weather coming up this week. I would like to do a group trail ride where I show and help with some drills and games to prevent herd bound horses, refusals, rushing, etc.

Here is the pattern for prizes at the Haunted Trail Course! 🔮

1. Enter, pause 30 seconds, and cross the foggy graveyard 🪦

2. Walk into the haunted spider forest, and back a serpentine out. 🕷️

3. Cross the monster lagoon, all 4 feet must step into the water 👹

4. Pour potion ingredients into a cauldron 🧪

5. Check in with skeleton judge, take a candy & horse treat from lap 💀

6. Raise Ghoul to ceiling by pulley & rope 👻

7. Stop at gate, put on a witches cloak and hat on horses head for 10 seconds 🧙‍♀️ 🌙

8. Cut the string cow pumpkin for 3 turns! 🐮

9. Go outside to rope your own pumpkin to take home! 🎃


Note: There will be awards for partial completion, and complete 🧹

In hand counts as partial completion

You do not haveto do the pattern, the first hour will be open practice and the last hour will be open for people to show their pattern.

🌙 🧹 🧟 HAUNTED TRAIL COURSE - OCTOBER FRIDAY 13TH 👻 🧙 🎃

We are going to set up a halloween themed trail course Friday the 13th open to haul ins, I’ll be in the arena to help with desensitizing and snag photos and video.

There will be prizes for completing the whole course & for costumes! 🏆

If there’s no rain we will have indoor and outdoor obstacles, and take 4 haul ins per 2hours. If indoors, we will be taking groups of 2-3 per 2 hours.

We plan on having an array of simple and more complex obstacles, such as lifting a ghoul to the ceiling by a pulley, water obstacles, fog machines, roping a pumpkin, etc.

Haul ins are $40 each, or $30 per horse if multiple. Must reserve in advance!

Flag & Cows today before the rain rolled in, we had so much fun sharing the cattle and helping the horses and riders get some good moves in!

I can’t wait to have more days like this here, and feel so thankful for everyone whose helped us be able to offer this.

Thank you to NWBHC for putting on such an awesome ranch shoot out this Friday! We enjoyed the good footing, fun patterns, happy judging and smooth schedule in some perfect sunshine. Thank you to everyone at homes help so we could get these three out to their first show!

🥇Docs Tuf Cascade won her large Ranch Conformation class and was a quiet rock star in it! We took her through rail and the warm up pens with the intent to school and build a nice quiet foundation.

🔨 Hammer Down Pepinic gave me some Ranch Halter placings and one of my best rides in my life in the warm up pens, some of my quietest lead changes, deepest slides and hooked in turns - but was really scared to be in the prairie show pen alone at his first event. It just wasn’t our day to call on him there yet. Sometimes you haveto just laugh and pet your horse 🤷🏻‍♀️

💗 Chips Heart Throb “Sunday” and Anna had a great finish to a long show on a green horse she started riding last week, and her mares first under saddle event. They were able to correct mistakes, build confidence, and end each run on a soft note. They nailed some beautiful lead changes, circles and soft stops & roll backs in their reining goes, all of which anna taught her a few days ago! They both hit many goals and grew so much in one day.

Someone told me once that some shows you go and you get to be a showman and call on your horses, but sometimes your horses will call on you to be a horseman instead. I’m happy with our horsemanship wins at the end of this show and already thinking of how to build on our program at home.

🅿️ PARKING 🅿️

Our barn is getting to be pretty busy some evenings, and we are loving all the new faces. However, here’s some instructions to keep trailer traffic seamless.

When pulling into our driveway, please pull in to the right and all the way to the front of the turnout paddocks. This allows everyone to easily pull out & open the gate.

Please leave enough room for another trailer to pass you on the left. Cars may park in the same loop or next to unhooked trailers on the grass. Boarders are fine in their usual place by the grain room.

We had an awesome first year at Hells Canyon Mule Days! I didn’t take nearly enough pictures, we were too busy enjoying the beautiful canyons and awesome sand footing. This weekend was so fun and we learned so much about the mules being here.

🥇Tuck took first in his Green Mule Western pleasure in a big class, and then the first place buckle in the Open Western Pleasure class of 20+ mules. We got our feet wet in some trail and pattern classes to build confidence as well. I couldn’t have asked for more growth and arena presence from him with only a few weeks of practice between our last show.

🥇Major & Gage took the first place buckle in Open Ranch Riding in a huge class of 20+ bridle mules. They reached some personal goals in the trail & pleasure classes as well.

🥇Jamie & Hal took home the English Pleasure buckle and reached some awesome goals in their pattern classes. Hal also ate the most cookies.

Sunday playing with the log drag this weekend, how cute and handy is this little mare?!

Sunday is a 2017 ApHC mare with a great set of papers who has been raised right in a show barn by trainers. She has a great foundation in western pleasure & showmanship, and is thriving here as well getting some outside miles.

She would be an excellent partner for someone who wants to show locally and try new things from pleasure, ranch classes, to mountain trail and do a relaxing trail ride on the side.

Another c**t start learning to pack a rider out of the round pen!

Jaxx is another c**t start that we got in as a halter broke clean slate. He will go home this month knowing how to tie, highline, hobble, pony, cross water & ditches, saddle & bridle, bathe, clip, haul quietly, and stay between a riders legs and hands. 🦄
