Spay/Neuter..... be a part of the solution.
Choose prevention instead of destruction.
There is and has been for years a FREE or LOW COST Spay Neuter program right here in Yanceyville NC. You dont have to live in Caswell CO but you need to bring your dog/cat to Yanceyville on your schedule day and pick them up there the next day.
THERE IS NO MORE ROOM AT THE SHELTER! It has been that way for months and getting worse each day. And it is like that in all surrounding counties and nationwide actually. This is not going away. We cannot continue to warehouse or adopt our way out of this crisis.
We must all take responsibility and make spay/neuter a priority.
And it starts with you and me ... not with keyboard warrior babble "someone needs to do something"
If your dogs/cats and community feral cats are not spayed/neutered... do something today to get that done!
Just came back from the shelter where we usually pull our animals from and feel empty......... and broken.........after seeing all the sad faces and knowing our rescue has no more space............ The shelter doesn't accept any more surrenders, because there is simply NO MORE ROOM! ( there is even no more room in the freezer (I know it sounds harsh, but this is what happens to animals when they have to make room and it is happening all over the USA- last year about 48, 000 animals were euthanized just in NC alone )) it is the SAD TRUTH and it is not the fault of people working there, it is FAULT of irresponsible pet owners, who suddenly don't have time, moving away or bla bla bla)
I really don't know how else to get through to folks- please stop breeding your pets or allow accidental breeding......... If you breed, take responsibility! if you do end up selling puppies and kittens, tell the folks who buy furry babies from you to make sure to RETURN THOSE CATS/DOGS to you and NOT to the shelter if things don't work out. Our shelter is not the only shelter suffering from high surrenders, it is all over the USA! The madness stops with SPAY AND NEUTER. We have funds to help you to spay/neuter your pets! Our amazing partner Second Chance pet adoptions provided funds to pay for the surgeries, all you have to do is to sign up for FREE clinic! ( medicaid/food stamps clients will qualify for free surgeries) , everyone else - the fees are super cheap! only $55+ cats +$75+ dogs ( fee will go up based on weight and gender) through the clinic Humane Society of the Piedmont
we are also planning on apply for another grant through Community of Danville.
I know a lot of folks rather close their eyes, post happy selfies and watch tik tok, but it is time to take glasses off, stop wasting time scrolling down silly tik tok videos and actually do something about this problem! Tiktokers- please find the way to bring message about spay/neuter to your followers! this would be much more helpful.
