Dakota Drift Cadence is getting ready for her NA test next month. Dakota Drift Arley (Harley) got to come along and have some fun as well. We are still using pigeons in launchers and kick traps and her search and point are getting better each time we go. 👏👏

Dakota Drift B'Shota, from our second litter has a beautiful litter of puppies that were born on April 16th. Grandma Vienna is very proud. 🥰. All of the puppies are spoken for except one male is still available. Sire is Spring Creek Cowboy, a very handsome and talented LM. The Dakota Drift crew had a great weekend at the Pheasants Forever show this weekend. They took turns spending time in the Large Munsterlander Association of America booth. They got lots of love in exchange for LM kisses. 🥰. Cadence participated in the Bird Dog parade on Friday. Good thing her time on stage was short as she was quite the squirmer. 😎. Being a showgirl was exhausting and they were able to relax at times but when we got back to the motel room I could tell Cady was a little frazzled. 😉. So we took them out for a good run before day three as a reward. 👏👏👏. On day three I left them in good hands with James Hannasch and Ray Carter while I did little shopping. Oh the sad faces when I left them behind. But I did find myself a cute hat decorated with pheasant feathers and some matching earrings. 🙂

HAPPY 5th BIRTHDAY to Dakota Drift A Litter. You are the crew that started it all! Momma Vienna ended up with a total of 29 puppies before her retirement. Two of those puppies are with us. 27 other puppies are blessing other families with lots of love and licks. 🥰.
The A litter family includes Amor Bozeman"Bozie" in ND; Aubrey in ND; Amigo in CO; Ace Vali in MN; Arrow "Josie" in SD; Arley "Harley" here with us; Arabella in PA; and Achilles in TX.

Took cadence to the lake today for some fun. She got a good whiff of some ducks on the water a 1/4 mile away along with some other nice scents. She is growing some long legs and looks a lot like her momma at this age. 🙂

Remember this cutie with the orange collar? He retrieved his first shot bird today. He was so happy he carried his bird all the way back to the truck. Nice job Captain Finn and Scott!

I don't think I officially announced that puppy number 8 is staying here with us. Dakota Drift Cadence "Cady," originally purple collar (now blue since momma Vienna wears purple) joins Snowy Oaks Meeka, Snowy Oaks Vienna, and Dakota Drift Arley (Harley). I often wonder how and why I managed to keep the naughty puppy in the litter 🤣, but much of that is a happy energetic puppy. However, like my good friend Chris Gross shared in one of her seminars, "what you allow is what you train". 😎.

And the Seventh puppy to go home is Dakota Drift Captain Finn. He joins Scott Howell and family in Renton, WA. The Howell family is blessed with another LM, Hunt Mountain Gallant "Max", who happens to be Finn's uncle. Captain Finn is taking his maiden flight from Yankton, SD to WA to go his forever home. 👏👏. I'm guessing there will be more flights following his maiden voyage home. 🙂.

So. Just how smart are LM puppies?! Bart Stark in C**n Rapids, MN sent me this video of Dakota Drift Cisco (12 weeks) watching TV and a story about car jacking.... Cisco definitely knows some bad guys are doing some bad things (!).

The sixth puppy to go to his forever home is Dakota Drift Campdog Jager (red collar). Jager and I drove six hours to meet his new owner from New Orleans. Zack Lemann and his son drove 12 hours and we met in a small park in Kansas City. Jager traveled so well and seemed to know that it was his going home day. 🥰. Zack is a lifetime member of LMAA and has helped with the annual LMAA calendar. This is his second LM, his first being Hunt Mountain Dakota "Baker". Jager has big shoes to fill. Zack has been without a LM for six years and he was very happy to finally meet Jager. They will spend most of their hunting time together at Duck Camp. As a side note I met Zack and Baker in New Orleans when I was on a business trip several years ago. I told Zack I didn't hunt duck because I didn't like eating them. He then prepared the most amazing duck in his cast iron skillet. 😋. Zack also often contributed recipes for the LMAA newsletter. It may be time for him to dust off his recipes and share again. 🙂.

Five puppies are settling in to their forever homes. Three are left and while the first five puppies went to first time LM owners. 👏, the remaining three are going to homes where the owners are repeat LM owners. 🙂

Purple collar puppy (female) will be staying with us. Her name is Dakota Drift Cadence (Cady). She now has a blue collar since momma Vienna wears purple.

Red collar male--his name is Dakota Drift Camp Dog Jager . More details on his new family later. 🙂

Orange collar (another handsome plated male), his name is Dakota Drift Captain Finn. More on him later as well.

Both Jager and Finn will be staying here a little longer due to previous travel commitments with their new owners. I will continue to work on potty training and start serious kennel training and separating the puppies in a kennel and at times for walks and car rides. I look forward to spending more time with all three of the puppies and continue watching them grow and learn. 🥰.

The fifth puppy to go to her forever home was the female with the yellow collar, Dakota Drift Court Champ, "Ruthie", named after Ruth Bader Ginsburg. She joins Matt Krejci and his family of Dublin, OH. Ruthie joins another canine sibling, a black and white GSP named James Bond. They will make a striking couple out in the field hunting together! Matt's son sent along a painting he did of momma Vienna with a very special note thanking me for the puppy and posting the videos 🥰. We have it hanging on our "wall of fame" in the room where the puppies grow up. I see bright futures for the entire Krejci family!

The fourth puppy to go home was the female puppy with the pink collar. Dakota Drift C Wilhelmina "Willa" joins Jordan & Kylie Knippling with their two children from Watertown, SD. The Knipplings visited a few weeks ago and I asked their daughter which puppy was her favorite and she told me the one with the pink collar. I remember her smile well when I handed that puppy to her I told her that was the one that was going home with them. 🥰. Jordan will be training and testing Willa at the same NAVHDA chapter as me so I will get to see this little sweet girl much more. 👏🙂.

The third puppy to go home was the male puppy with the gray collar, Dakota Drift Caesar with Mike & Nell Krsnak from Rapid City, SD. Mike & Nell have lots of experience with LM's dogsitting for their friends and they decided they were ready for a hunting partner of their own. Mike is a South Dakota State University alumni. We are fans of SDSU football and the Jackrabbits. National Champions last year. 👏 🙂. I'm actually taking my first break from the puppies, camping and going to a game today. 🙂. Anyway--back to Mike. His college roommate was from Yankton. His roommates mom and R Todd Rothenberger were 4H leaders together for the Dogs R Us club. Such a small world! Caesar is making new friends including their cat Chachi.

The second puppy to leave was the male puppy with the blue collar, Dakota Drift Call Me Doc (Holliday). I met his new owners, Cody & Lauren Tarvis (and their two children) from Chetek, WI almost three years ago. They were hunting in SD and it worked out for me, Vienna, Meeka, and Harley to join them. They liked what they saw and were ready to be placed on our puppy list. Their daughter gave Vienna a big hug when she said goodbye and asked Vienna to make her a beautiful puppy. They waited three long years. Lauren is living her life-long dream of running a rescue organization from her home. Please follow Frito Paws Rescue Co and help out if you can. Doc Holliday also has an awesome future ahead of him. He will not only love hunting with Cody, Lauren and the kids, he is destined to love NASCAR (especially Kyle Larson) and racing. Thank you Cody and Lauren for your patience! 🙂.

The first puppy to leave for its forever home was green collar, Dakota Drift Cisco. Barton and Ann Stark, along with their two sons pickled up Cisco to take to his new home in C**n Rapids, MN. If you watched the Netflix series Quarterback, Bart and Ann were the chiropractors that treated Vikings quarterback Kurt Cousins. 👏🙂. Cisco joined a wonderful family and Bart and Ann are expecting a new grandchild soon as well. Cisco has an exciting life ahead of him with lots of hunting in his future. 🥰

We are down to four puppies. One more goes home today. I'll share about the lucky families later today.
For now it is life as usual for these four. Harley loves to play with them while momma V supervises. Meeka is ready when they get tired and want to snuggle. 🥰

The puppies wear breakaway collars that come off easily for safety reasons. When a puppy loses their collar it become the most coveted toy by the entire pack. When one is missing it eventually shows up like this. 🙂
