This week I took Stockholm and Beowulf to MAEMC which is where it all began, and the reason I am a veterinarian today. So grateful to have such amazing veterinarians, colleagues and technicians taking such great care of my boys! ❤️

It’s always hard going from being the doctor to being the client when Quinn was sick yesterday. I am so very lucky to practice along side of so many amazing doctors and nurses at all of the practices I have the privilege of working with. I appreciate each and every one of you. ❤️

Keno is a 10 month old pup, who presented to me in the ER for lethargy, a decreased appetite, and the owners noticing that his urine was extremely bright yellow. On presentation, he was pale with an elevated heart rate and poor pulses. Bloodwork confirmed marked anemia. As he is a mischievous puppy, he sometimes eats inappropriate things around the house so radiographs were performed showing metallic objects in the stomach. Keno received a blood transfusion to stabilize him prior to an having an endoscopy to remove the objects. The pieces of metal were Zinc, which causes toxicity in dogs. Fortunately, Keno has done very well, and is expected to make a full recovery thanks to his astute owners. So happy to have helped this lovely boy! ❤️

As an Emergency Veterinarian, rarely does a day go by that I’m not faced with having difficult and emotional conversations with owners. There are many particularly hard days where empathetic strain can be overwhelming. It’s easy to question at the end of the day whether you make a difference. Today, I received the most beautiful hand written card containing a sentiment card and charm. It’s amazing how such a small thing can impact your day and make you feel completely rejuvenated. I’m so thankful for this client’s special gift today. ❤️

It is with great sadness that I recently had to say goodbye to two of my favorite canine patients. I am so proud to have been part of their care, and help improve their quality of life in their senior years. Both dogs were incredibly loved by their devoted families, and will be greatly missed. RIP Cindy and Conner. ❤️

My friend Conner is a 16 year old sweet boy who is a total champion. He has a history of having his spleen removed, mast cell tumors, arthritis, and has been battling kidney failure for some time. I’m lucky enough to be able to help him on his journey. ❤️❤️❤️

As a veterinarian, I can say that the relationship I have with my own bestie keeps me grounded, and ever aware of the importance of the human-animal bond.

There are times in this field, that compassion fatigue can creep up on us. For me, taking a step back to appreciate just how much my guy improves my life, is my reality check and helps rejuvenate my dedication to the field and helps me remain empathetic to others.
