Meet Henry
He is available for adoption today.

Henry is an exceptional canine companion.
He possesses a unique combination of physical beauty and intelligence.
His gentle and kind demeanor suggests a history of proper care and socialization.
Interestingly, Henry appears to possess a high level of problem-solving skills, as evidenced by his attempt to open a door.
Although his exact age is unknown, it is estimated to be between 2-3 years old, based on his physical appearance.
Henry has demonstrated excellent manners, politely accepting treats and interacting calmly with other dogs he has been in close proximity to
We are not sure about background , perhaps some cattle dog combined with other breeds while his coat is not long it is very thick and plush to the touch
It is surprising that Henry's original owner has not come forward to claim him.

Tyson ,our longest resident wants to go home and he is eligible for adoption or foster ( through one of our rescue partners)
Tyson is 7 years old and dog selective although he likes many dogs.
He would do best in an adult home. He is a chill fellow of medium energy and would love to spend his days in a loving home. He has more than put in his shelter time !!
Please consider this gentle fellow especially if you would like to foster.

Donate for Debo 🙏

We so hoped we won’t once make a post asking for help for Debo. We had been quietly working on what we thought was finally Debo ‘s chance to get out of boarding. Into a rescue and a foster home but sadly for Debo it didn’t work out and rescue decided they couldn’t help him after all 💔💔💔. We are so sad for Debo. He deserves to be in a home after so so long.
So now we go back to finding hid next chapter. But it also leaves us scrambling now to raise funds with only 12 days left until next payment.

Help us to raise funds needed to keep him safe and happy.

We so wish no longer needed to do this that someone would face him a chance. For now this is his safe place. . Debo has spent way too much time behind bars and he's starting to lose hope but We ll never give up until Debo from Yonkers SHelter is home.

Debo still needs our help we hope one day to no longer as for help with Debo but we will never turn our backs on him until he finds his forever. Debo is untrusting of new people but once he knows you. He loves you. He's best as an only dog in a low traffic home. He's had literary no interest because perhaps he's not perfect but we know he has to be perfect for someone. We know his person is out there we just need help while he waits 💙💙💙

Donations desperately needed for our next payment is due March 1 🙏🏻 And for full transparency. Our situation with Debo has changed. Due to major chances between rescue involved with helping Debo get out of shelter originally and to the board/train. We are now also fully responsible for all Debo’s needs including all and any vetting he requires so will be fundraising consistently to ensure we can cover all all he needs. It was this or have an unknown fate for Debo and that wasn’t an optionsweet Debo who was so shut down at the shelter he didn’t come out of his kennel for the first 17 months. We rejoiced when we found rescue and rehabilitation for him last year. Unfortunately over a year later Debo remains without a home and is going to continue in board and train, in a home environment, with 1-on-1 attention.It's not a home and a family, but it's the very best we can do for him for now. And we will do everything we can until he goes home.

Meet Hippo a big beautiful ginger fellow
Hippo has only been here one day and already he is coming out of hiding. He is still decompressing however he was happy to stick out his handsome face for some pets and eat scratches.
We doubt Hippo will be here very long but the shorter his stay the better.
If you would like to visit he is in the showcase right as you walk in the building.

Meet Yogi

What to know about Yogi
Yogi is a Shih Tzu or possibly a Shih Tzu mix our guess is that he’s between six and eight years old
He had bladder stones removed when he first came to the shelter, and the surgery was successful. However, the person who adopt him must be committed to the probability that he will always need to be on special food for bladder stones such as c/d or royal canon S/O he’s very friendly he loves people as you can see is very cute and he’d like a home for more info. Petey is one of the longest residents at Friends of Yonkers Animal Shelter. He is heee more than 2 years. One of our rescue partners has been trying their best to find Petey a foster however that’s no easy feat these days. He even has a financial grant from the Franklin Angus Fund so he can brush up on his skills. Can you help ? Sharing is so important. A couple of clicks and Petey will be seen by many more people. Wait until You Meet Bullet-A fantastic Dog
At Friends of Yonkers Animal Shelter
🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶🐶
Bullet was surrendered in December when his owners could no longer care for him.
He’s three years old about 45 pounds, and he’s just an amazing cuddly, affectionate, friendly dog full of energy.
He appears to have been well cared for;he has a beautiful shiny coat. He could probably gain a pound or two, but he’s not skinny and not heavy he loves being outside. He runs back-and-forth with whatever dog is on the other side of the fence.
He does have to learn that he’s a large fellow, though, as he likes to come and sit on your lap
Whoever his owners were, were probably very sad to part with him because it’s clear that he was loved and that people spent time with him.
Our hope is that his stay here is short and that his mood will stay the way it is. Let’s find him a home quickly so that he doesn’t become depressed or stressed as Shelter dogs often do over time.

Bruno is still at Friends of Yonkers Animal Shelter in Yonkers NY How can this be

Bruno is a lovely dog at Friends of Yonkers Animal Shelter ,who was surrendered when the owner couldn’t care for him any longer
He is people and dog friendly ,three years old and a nice medium size, maybe 50 lbs
His coat is a deep rich chocolate brown and white and is smooth as velvet
He likes treats and affection and he loves to run as you would imagine
Bruno was a little shy when he first came in however that’s not unusual for a dog who just lost his home and doesn’t know why he is at the shelter
He is now comfortable with the volunteers however, when he comes outside, he’s so excited to sniff the grass that he sometimes doesn’t make enough eye contact with the prospective adopter people don’t realize that this is normal when a dog spends most of his day inside it doesn’t mean he won’t be affectionate in the home. He just needs time to smell the roses as they would say.
Please consider him if you are seeking a sweet young man who could also live with another dog

Happy Gotcha Day Layla

One of the most popular dogs ever at Friends of Yonkers Animal Shelterwas sweet Layla who was loved by everyone but especially by her advocate, volunteer Michele Rabinowitz Morello who kept searching for the perfect home for Layla until she found it.
Now, a year later , Layla is still showering Michele with kisses and thanking her for har amazing Mom and Dad
This is what we wish for all our dogs.
