🙏This is Franklin's Hail Mary!
😿 Cats in Need - Yorba Linda are searching despertely for a new foster for little 1-year-old Franklin, who was unfortunately diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes just weeks after being adopted.
⏲️ Although his adopter loves him, he can't work with his insulin schedule, and Franklin needs a new home or long-term foster by March 31st
😍 We are desperately searching for a selfless, cat-loving soul to foster (or adopt) little Franklin.
💉Prior experience with diabetic treatment is NOT a requirement and our volunteers will walk you through the easy administering of his medication.
💲 Cats in Need will pay for all of his medical needs and equipment relating to his diabetes for the rest of Franklin's life.
⏬️Please see the treatment information below for the details on providing insulin support to a diabetic kitty like Franklin.
💙Outside of his diagnosis, Franklin could not be a more perfect kitty. He is a sweet, loving cuddlebuddy who deserves his best shot at a normal life in a loving home.
☎️If you or someone you know might have the time and heart to help Franklin, please call or text 714-561-3117

Treatment details:
It is very important to try to maintain a consistent schedule when treating a diabetic. Feed and give insulin at the same time every day, 12 hours apart. You can vary by as much as 1-2 hours but be as consistent as possible. Keep a daily record of insulin doses, times of administration and any pertinent observations (changes in thirst, hunger, activity, etc). Remember to take this journal with you when you bring your pet back in for a recheck.

Insulin Administration:
1) Feed and be sure that your pet is eating.
2) Remove the insulin vial from the refrigerator and mix the contents, checking to make sure there is no sediment left on the bottom of the bottle. If your pet is on Vetsulin insulin, you actually have to mix/shake the bottle vigorously. For all other types of insulin, you must mix very gently by rolling.
3) Draw up the insulin dose and administer it subcutaneously (underneath the skin). Record the dose and the time of administration in your journal.
4) Repeat the procedure in the evening.

🙋‍♀️👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 FOSTERS NEEDED! 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦👩‍👧‍👧👨‍👧‍👦
Cats in Need - Yorba Linda are seeking local families this Spring to help with fostering baby kittens found in our local communities

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Our fosters are all local families and individuals who are able to balance kitten fostering alongside their careers, families and extracurricular activities!

😸All you need to get started is:
✅️ SPACE- A clean bedroom, bathroom, or space for a playpen in a corner of the home
✅️ TIME - Kittens enjoy playtime and socialization, and of course need to be fed, litter cleaned, bathed as needed, etc...

👍You decide how many kittens to foster at once, if you can handle medical needs or not, what age, and for how long!

🏥 Cats in Need provides all medical care and vetting, and can provide any supplies needed

🧒👧 Your High Schoolers can earn their community service hours by helping to care for cute kittens!

✉️ Please text 714-561-3117 if you are able to help a cat or kitten in need, or if you'd like additional information or have questions

Here are some FAQs:

Q: "How do you give them up? I worry I'll "Foster Fail" and want to keep them!"

A: Our rescue thoroughly vets the families that adopt our kitties. By opening your home to one or more babies for a short period, and then sending them to their new loving family, you're not only saving a life, but then you are able to save even more by continuing to foster again and again.

Q: "What if I have cats and dogs of my own?"

A: Fosters that have resident pets (and kids!) contribute to some of our most well-rounded foster kittens! The kitties learn to live comfortably with other animals and in a loving environment full of lots of noise and wet noses!

Q: "We work full time, can we still foster?"

A: Absolutely! Most all of our fosters are employed full-time. Foster kitties over 6-weeks or so can happily chill at home with their kibble and water until you get home for snuggles.

Actual reasons fostering may not be right for you:
✅️ A functioning doggy door
✅️ Severe cat allergies or unknown allergies in the home
✅️ Resident cats allowed outdoors
✅️ Resident dog(s) with high prey drive
✅️ Toddler or non-pet-responsible children in the home
✅️ You want to adopt a kitty. (In this case, please visit Cin.petfinder.com to find the right kitty for you!)

👉What to do (and NOT do) if you find baby kittens..
🛑 Before you scoop up the kittens, be sure the kittens are actually abandoned!

Use the chart below to assess the situation using the CASA method 👇

🤔As a general rule, if the kittens are walking (normally) on their own, they are safe to leave Mama. If they are still sliding on their belly, or wobbling when they walk, if at all possible, they should be kept with Mama.

*DON'T KIDNAP KITTENS BEFORE ASSESSING THE SITUATION, UNLESS THE KITTEN IS SICK OR IN IMMINENT DANGER*

If you find kitten(s), a pregnant Mamacat, or a Mama and babies, in or around Yorba Linda, Anaheim Hills, Placentia or Brea, reach out to Cats in Need - Yorba Linda for resources or support by submitting a Request Help form at catsinneed.com 👍

Cats in Need of Human Care

Cats in Need is a completely volunteer run organization that focus on adopting kitties into great forever homes. 97% of all donations go directly for the care of our cats.We showcase our fosters online through our page as well as through Petfinder.com and AdoptAPet.com .

We depend on donations to cover the basics: food, medical care (shots and spay/neuter) for the kitties until they go home to their new families. With the shelters overtaxed, many of these kitties would likely be killed due to sheer population overload and not enough public funds to support them.

Help us help the kitties!
