Hi all, what is everyone's experience with Mareks Disease?
My parents have a flock of common laying hens and one turned up sick. She looks around and will vocalize at us but seems to be unable to stand with drooped wings and what appears to be partial paralysis.
Everything I read expresses that Mareks is viral but none of the other hens appear sick. Just this one. She is an adult. Age unknown since this one was a rescue from humane league.
They get all flock feed along with mixed scratch gains daily and fresh treats on the weekends. Little to no mite burden noted.
I'm currently helping them work with her but have never experienced this myself before. Thoughts?
