Did you know every morning our dogs begin the day with a playgroup? This provides the dogs with daily enrichment and socialization, as well as helps us learn more about what kind of forever family they need. As a bonus, it also helps make our cleaning go faster. Our staff goes through an on line and in person training to learn how to properly and safely host daily playgroups.

Animal Medical Technician
Base pay $19.90 hour, salary commensurate with experience
Main responsibilities
• Administers medical treatments as directed
• Manages care of injured animals, as well as those receiving medical care
• Assists the Veterinarian with surgery, as well as pre- surgical prep and evaluation and recovery
• Maintains medical records

Qualifications: 4 years Animal Shelter or clinic experience as a vet tech or vet assistant. Associates degree in Vet Tech/assistant or related discipline. Or a combination of the above.
Kennel Tech I
Base pay $17.19/hour
Part-time, 28 hours a week, weekends and holidays required
Main responsibilities
•Daily sanitation of housing and care of animals
•Feed and water animals
•Provide enrichment and socialization to animals at the shelter
• Maintain all areas of the animal shelter

•Supervises the veterinary department of York County Animal Services

•Maintains regulatory compliance and records

Yesterday, our Behavior Coordinator Brittney led a class for a group of shelter volunteer dog walkers. During this class, volunteers learned techniques on working with dogs on leashing in the kennel, developing focus, and leash walking skills. This class is just one more great example of how our volunteers and staff work together to help get our pets ready for their furever home.

Bonnie and Chanel were surrendered to us when their family moved. They are a perfect pair of 8 year old mature ladies but still have spunk in their step. Think the Golden Girls but with paws. They would love a home where they can snuggle up on the couch with maybe an occasional game of fetch. Belly scratches and blankets are their fave. They do fine around very calm, low key doggy friends but wouldn't mind being your one and only. No kitties for these girls.
These girls have so much love to give. They have spent their whole lives together. We are determined to find a family that will adore this bonded pair as much as we do.
