THE FIREWORKS HAVE STARTED!!
If you have to take your pet outside, make sure they are leashed with a secure collar. Pets will dart and climb fences in reaction to the loud nose.

🎆IT'S NEW YEAR"S EVE🎇

Please take extra measures to keep your pets safe. More pets go missing during fireworks celebrations than any other times of the year and our shelter has already been overwhelmed with recent stray influx.

Tips to keep your pets safe

🔎 Keep your pets secured inside.
🔎 If they must go out after dark, use a leash when walking your dog, even in your own yard at night.
🔎 Make sure pets have collars with up to date info and microchip information is current.
🔎 Play calming music or white noise once the fireworks begin.
🔎 For extra anxious pets, consider consulting your vet to see if calming medications are a good option.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR A SPECIAL FAMILY FOR A MEDIUM SIZED BONDED PAIR COMING UP TO ADOPTION.

Minty and Applejack came to the shelter stray. Both were underweight, showing signs of a rough outdoor life and both were heartworm positive.
✨️Heartworm disease is deadly if left untreated and can be very costly. This disease can be EASILY prevented by keeping your pet up to date on heartworm prevention. This prevention is very cost effective compared to the actual treatment and saves your pet on experiencing the pain of this disease.

Minty and Applejack are bonded pair of females. They are completing their heartworm treatment at the shelter and will be looking for an indoor home that is willing to provide them a restful space while they finish recovery over the next few weeks.

Minty is around 36 pounds and Applejack is around 40 pounds. They both appear housebroken and are medium energy.

JINGLE BELLE WAS WELCOMED TO THE ADOPTION FLOOR WITH A DOGGY DAY OUT

Her ambassadors, Kira and her mom, showed Jingle Belle a great time and had a lot of great things to say about her.

"Jingle Belle is an energetic sweetheart 💕! She was great in the car, she was very excited when we first got her she walked back and forth to each window right over my daughters lap and then calmed down and just enjoyed the ride. We went to visit Grandma, we went for a walk at McDowell Park, she was leading the way & smelling everything, she loved the outdoors. It got a little cold and rainy so we left the park and stopped at Starbucks for a pup cup, which she absolutely LOVED. Wet then went back to our house, we have 4 cats, two of which came to check out what was going on and Jingle was totally uninterested in either one of them, so I think she would be fine with cats! When there was a break in the drizzle we let her in the backyard and she had super fast zoomies, so a fenced yard is a must for this crazy zoomies girl. She is a very quiet girl, we only heard her voice once when we came across a little dog and it's family on the trail at the park that didn't stop to say hi, so she let them know she wanted some interaction.🤣 Jingle Belle will make a great addition to a loving home!"

Thank you for showing Jingle Belle that life outside the kennel is for living on a ❤️

We have a very special announcement to make.

Mortimer came into the shelter over a year ago. He had one medical issue after another. He would make improvement after treatment and then he would have another setback. Staff and volunteers adored this sweet natured boy and kept cheering him on. We suspected that kennel stress was having a significant impact on his recovery. Luckily, we had a family step up to foster. He did so well in a home that they decided he was home. Please celebrate with us that after 498 DAYS Mortimer found his furever family!
