my 34th birthday is just hitting different..

when I turned 33 last year, I immediately was taken over by our ridiculously busy work/life schedule and traveling all over. left with a few days in between work, which was really rough. then once it was all over I got sick. really sick. and spent most of my year chronically dizzy, stricken with intense panic attacks and so. much. more. I spent most of my year laying in my bed rotting. doctors appts. bloodwork. late nights googling every single symptom and diagnosing myself with something new every minute. waking up and having de-realization (new for me) and questioning my entire existence. sitting in my ruminating thoughts, my compulsions. my ocd. It was darker than it’s ever been. there was no candlelight. no flicker. I really learned what it meant when they said mental health can manifest into chronic physical conditions. I really thought I’d be like this forever.

I feel like I was a cicada, shedding its once body.

until now. now I look back and realize HOW much I’ve changed, grown and learnt. when you are forced to sit with your dark shadow self and are forced to evaluate every fraction of your life, it’s kind of inevitable that you’ll change.

every year since Covid, it’s been a new learnt experience. but this one takes the cake. the bday cake. I’ve never been more happier and proud of myself. while my entire world is crumbling around me, I mustered up the innate strength to fight HARD. and now, here I am. still healing, do not get me wrong. still learning. but for a moment I can pat myself on my back.

I like to say I’m a LEO that’s grown up. 😂

Since I have a few community driven things I am currently curating, I figured why not utilize this as an opportunity to:

HI! I am Sarah, the owner of this lil photography thing. I’m 33, married, 2 boys and 7 cats. Honestly, I just like life to be weird, offbeat and full of deep human connections. I absolutely love what I do, photographing humans, and truly nothing compares to being able to call this a job.
I’ve been photographing weddings since 2009 and I see no end in sight. I. LOVE. IT. The art. The people. The fate of it all. It’s blissful. We are still currently taking 2024 weddings and have already booked a few 2025!

I am currently launching a new podcast into this world. Tomorrow I will be dropping episode ONE! This podcast will be discussing many topics that range from merging mental health and running a business, transparent chats about the sometimes toxic wedding industry, real stories of how I have failed, learned and succeeded from being all hustle to being anti-hustle and how that has truly aligned me with the best clients. And honestly so much more..

We’re all incredibly scared and terrified we won’t survive. So I created a REAL community over competition support group on FB as a space for everyone to talk as freely and comfortably as they want.
