Halloween is full of fun, frights, and festive treats, but it can also bring a few hidden hazards for our furry friends. Here are some simple ways to help keep your pets safe and stress-free this spooky season:
🍬 Candy Dangers: Chocolate, sugar-free treats (with xylitol), and raisins are toxic to pets. Remind kids to keep their candy stash where curious noses can’t find it!
🕯️ Décor Hazards: Pumpkins with candles, dangling decorations, fake spider webs, and electric cords can all pose fire or chewing hazards. Keep decorations out of reach.
🚪 Doorway Safety: Trick-or-treat traffic can be scary and tempting for escape. Keep pets in a quiet room away from the front door to reduce anxiety or use a baby gate for extra security around the open door.
🏷️ Check ID & Microchips: Accidents can happen, especially with doors opening often. Make sure your pet’s ID tags are up to date and that their microchip information is current, it’s the best way to get them home if they slip out.
👗 Costume Comfort: Make sure costumes fit properly and don’t restrict movement, breathing, or vision. Always supervise costumed pets and skip the outfit if they seem stressed.
💡 Glow Stick & Battery Warnings: Glow sticks, jewelry, and small batteries can cause irritation or serious harm if chewed or swallowed. Keep these items away from pets.
Have a fun, safe, and pawsitively spooktacular Halloween! 🧡🐾
