Hey local friends! As many of you know we’ve been doing some slimming down, that means we have cages needing new residences!

G was setup as a bioactive for day geckos - bamboo is very established, 6+ years, has some isopods and springtails, has drainage layer - $75

Looks like some tables got moved around but we’re still in the first row along the wall. Two days until setup and three days until doors open for general admission!

While I normally do a PSA for NARBC Tinley, today’s PSA is a bit different.

July is HOT in Illinois.
We will be in the 90s this weekend.
Please plan on starting the car to cool down before bringing out animals that are not built for the heat. I don’t mean to rain on anyone’s dinner plans but think of your new reptiles, whether they can come with, and if you’re going to be outside for longer than the walk from car to food. Not to be pushy or graphic, but we literally had a customer put a gecko (in their deli) on their dash, have a cig, and in that time, the gecko steamed to its demise on a summer day. We take temperature safety very seriously. This goes for you, too! Stay hydrated.

NARBC: North American Reptile Breeders Conference Schaumburg is only a few days away!! We will be in the first row, a few vendors in, along the wall, with our pal Sunshine Geckos AH like always. We will be bringing proven breeders (crested, gargoyle, and chahoua), sub-adults, and juveniles and he will be bringing leachies! Lots to choose from at reasonable prices! We may be downsizing but that doesn’t mean new projects aren’t happening! With the cleaning of empty cages, we were able to put our last two (anxiously awaited) crested projects together - pictured below!

I have a gargoyle project that’s waiting for a group to move to their new home so they can get their party started.

Some of you already know but…
We are going to be significantly downsizing our collection to be able to spend more time as a family and still be able to give the collection and animals we have the love and attention they deserve. We were at over 400 animals in March, we want to be at 1/4 of that by October.

While we’ve really wanted to have the time to take pictures and post, we just haven’t. We will, however, be vending at the All Animal Expo at the Kane County Fairgrounds this Sunday, May 26th. We will be bringing many proven adults, some holdbacks and grow outs, and plenty of youngins. Deals will be had if buying males/breeding duos/trios.

We cannot wait to see everyone this weekend! 🎉

We had such a huge response at NARBC for our BOGO sale! We wanted to remind everyone that housing geckos together is not recommended.
Can you house females together? Yes (usually), we have had some bossy crested and gargoyles that can’t handle it.

Can you house babies together?
If they’re close in same size?
What about gargoyles?

For gargoyles - we highly do NOT suggest it unless you’re breeding and even then, we keep an eye on them. Gargoyles can be food bossy; they will also go after each other’s tails. For that reason, we do not house any gargoyles together until breeding time.

As for cresteds, they are a little more tolerable but there are exceptions. Males should NEVER be housed together. And I don’t mean just adults when you can tell (the biscuits), I mean shortly after I can tell they’re male (3.5-5 grams). If you aren’t experienced in louping geckos, I highly suggest not putting geckos together. And even when you do (2 females or breeders), they should be close in size.

Now, we house our breeders year round, barring bossiness and weight. Some people don’t like to do that, which I respect. You may run into some slight variations of above, but this is coming from 13+ years of gecko wrangling.

What a weekend! Another NARBC in the books! Thank you so so much to everyone who helped us make our load much lighter. You are all amazing!

We have a lot of updating to our MorphMarket page which will likely happen over the weekend but I will try during the week to start getting things back up if time allows 🤞

I (Teresa) was really well behaved this weekend and Sunset Cove here was the only gecko to be a new addition! I’ve got some plans for him…

NARBC: North American Reptile Breeders Conference Tinley PSA time!
Who is ready for a weekend of reptiles?!?

How do I get Tickets?
There are two types of tickets: VIP and General Admission. VIPs get in early on Saturday and Sunday along with setup on Friday. This ticket is $50 and is good all weekend. General admission is $15 for Saturday or Sunday (ticket only gets you one day). No Friday admission. Online ticket sales are closed but you can still purchase VIP at the show! General admission has a LONG LINE to start the show. See their website for info on tickets.

What is the parking situation like?
It can get a little crazy at opening time but do NOT park at LA Fitness unless you want to be towed. You may end up in the hotel lot even. Carpool if you can!

Can I hold one?
This is not a petting zoo type of show. Some animals will be available for holding/petting but many will not due to the nature of the show - packed full of people and stressful for animals!

What about strollers?
If you can avoid it, leave them at home! The aisles are not all conducive to strollers, especially large ones. You will have to be extra conscious of placement. All kids need to be under constant and direct supervision.

See something and don’t like the price? Or don’t understand the cost? See something that’s “so small that you’d lose it”?
There’s no need to make a comment, it just doesn't sit well with others. But feel free to ask questions about it!

What should I wear and bring?
Wear comfortable shoes and clothes! Lots of standing and walking, not really anywhere to sit unless you’re in the hallway. It’s going to be warm with all of the people even thought it is indoors. Don't bring your coat in unless you really like saunas. I would suggest a bag to carry things. Also, be prepared to bring something home with a cooler in your car 😉

Be aware of your surroundings.
Try not to block people’s tables or others ability to view if you’re just talking to friends.

Can you hold this for me? I just want to do a quick lap.: Don’t ask a vendor to hold something and never go back. It leaves a sour taste in their mouth and ruins future relationships. If you end up changing your mind, tell them as soon as you can! BUT if you’re asking like, I just bought this from you, I don’t want to carry it around through the show, absolutely ask your vendor to hold on to it. Most will gladly do so!

What kinds of payment are accepted?
While it really depends on the vendor, cash is king (especially from a bargaining stand point). Many vendors will have accept credit/debit cards, some will accept Apple Pay, Venmo, CashApp, or Zelle as well. Just ask!

Food in the area?: There are lots of food and shopping options in Tinley a park and the neighboring town Orland Park! Like A LOT. But if you don’t want to leave, there’s a restaurant in the hotel and concessions in the lobby.

Most important thing to do this weekend is to have FUN and enjoy the company of other reptile loving people!

‘‘Twas some nights before Tinley… and it’s time to make lids. All the creatures were stirring, expecting some drips… of water, it’s gecko spraying time and my ability to rhyme has gone out the window. 🤭🤣

We went through every gecko to see who was going, louping and pricing, too! We are just shy of 200 crested and gargoyle geckos that will be in attendance at NARBC: North American Reptile Breeders Conference this weekend!
