We got a call yesterday to assist with the seizure of three horses. I would just like to say I was honored to have gotten the call and proud of my local law enforcement for doing something about horses in bad condition.

So we have three new temporary residents and they’ll be here till the court case is done then we’ll see what happens. They don’t look as bad as some that we’ve had, but they sure don’t look good. And they’ve had minimal handling so they’re a little tough to deal with. But they’ll get better.

While we no longer have our 501c3 status, if you would like to donate to their rehabilitation donations can be made via PayPal at [email protected]. The county will subsidize some of their care but we will need to take care of some of it.

They say good stallions make the best geldings. Well our two youngsters finally got the old “snip snip” today. A big thank you to Dr. Brockman of Casey County Veterinary Service. Here’s our drunken sailors as they awaken and wonder why they feel like they’re missing a couple of things lol!

Hugo (the big bay with the two white pasterns) came last week fairly thin and in poor condition. He spent 10 days in quarantine just to be sure (even though he came from a private party) and we introduced him to the herd yesterday. Ben (the paint and alpha of the gang) of course played the fool and ran him around yesterday. Today they’re happily wandering together and noshing on the grass. He’ll get healthier in no time!
