For immediate release :
Animal Charity took in 78 abandoned animals just in January. Kane, Undertaker, and Paul pictured below were just 3 of those animals. We had 27 animals rescued in 36 hours during this time.

The owner of all 3 dogs have voluntarily surrendered due to abuse and neglect. Charges are pending against the owner. This case is a reminder that neglecting an animal’s basic needs is a serious crime with consequences.

These animals were living in deplorable conditions, without adequate shelter, food, or water. As the temperatures dropped, Kane, Undertaker, and Paul were ALL extremely dehydrated. With insufficient shelter, frost wounds, and sores. Also other signs of neglect that could have been prevented with basic care. There was a Winter Weather Advisory on the day that Kane, Undertaker and Paul were rescued.

Insufficient shelter means these dogs are exposed to the harsh elements, with no protection from the cold, rain, or extreme heat. In freezing temperatures, they’re at risk for frostbite-a serious condition that can lead to tissue damage and even amputation if untreated.

The damage doesn’t stop there. Sores can develop from prolonged exposure, leading to infections and long-term suffering. Making life even harder for these innocent animals. Every dog deserves proper shelter to protect them from the elements. No animal should endure frostbite, open sores, or unnecessary pain.

If you see a dog in these conditions, speak up. It’s time to raise awareness and demand better care for our furry friends.

Animal Charity took in 78 abandoned animals just in January. Jean Jacket, Penny, Gadget, Chalet, Flask, and Cantina are pictured below, those are just 7 out of 78.

Calls come in every week for abandoned dogs and cats. We understand life happens, but have a plan in place for your animals, leaving them behind to possibly starve or freeze to death, is not an option.

WE HAVE 145 DOGS IN OUR SHELTER 210 ANIMALS TOTAL

We need funds for medical care, emergency veterinary bills, humane investigations and to keep us out there saving lives. Please donate! Please share! WE NEED HEROS.

Jean Jacket
This is our sweet sweet girl Jean Jacket. Humane agents rescued this poor girl. She was absolutely suffering outside in the cold. She was freezing.

Penny + Gadget
These two dogs were rescued! This tiny puppy and her dad were freezing and living in terrible conditions.
The blanket you see was absolutely frozen. We named the puppy ( Penny ), and her dad ( Gadget )

Chalet + Flask + Cantina
These three were abandoned in a house, seized by humane agents. Both dogs were severely dehydrated. They are both wounded, and starved. There was also a cat that came in with them. None of them were receiving proper care, and were neglected. The cat’s name is Chalet. The dogs are named Flask and Cantina.

These dogs are now in safe hands, receiving care and warmth. It’s a reminder of the importance of protecting our pets from extreme weather conditions and ensuring they receive the love and care they deserve.

Animal Charity attended Boardman Center School to educate the students involved in The Panda Leaders Club about the importance of respect and social skills through animals. This program is a division of Meridian Healthcare. A unique learning experience that fosters empathy, understanding, and kindness!

The students involved in the Panda Leadership group are hosting a donation fundraiser called the Furry Friend Drive! They’re collecting small items needed to support our animals in need. Every little bit helps – join us in making a difference for our furry friends!

Panda Leaders Club has been empowering students to become leaders in their schools and communities since 1980. Fun fact, Jane was involved in this club when she was in school! 🤍

⚠️ ⛔️ Winter Weather Advisory⛔️⚠️

Tips for Pet Owners During Cold Weather

As a storm is impending and the temperatures are freezing, it’s time for some reminders for pet owners about protecting their pets during cold weather. With some preventative measures in dealing with the cold, many problems can be easily avoided. Some important wintertime tips to remember:

• If it’s too cold for you, it’s probably too cold for your pet, so keep your animals inside. Puppies, senior pets, and short-haired breeds may get cold quickly. Keep them inside or limit their time outside to prevent frostbite or hypothermia.

• Provide shelter: We don't recommend keeping any pet outside for long periods of time, but if you are unable to keep your dog inside during cold weather, provide him/her with a warm, solid shelter against wind. Make sure that they have unlimited access to fresh, non-frozen water (by changing the water frequently) The floor of the shelter should be off of the ground (to minimize heat loss into the ground) and the bedding should be thick, dry and changed regularly to provide a warm, dry environment. The door to the shelter should be positioned away from prevailing winds. Space heaters and heat lamps should be avoided because of the risk of burns or fire. Heated pet mats should also be used with caution because they are still capable of causing burns.

• Never let your dog off the leash on snow or ice, especially during a snowstorm. Dogs frequently lose their scent in snow and ice and easily become lost. They may panic in a snowstorm and run away. More dogs are lost during the winter than during any other season.

• Cats love cars. Cats are attracted to the warmth and shelter of cars, so make sure to always tap on the hood to alert any sleeping animals that could be injured when the car starts.

• Use paw protectants (like petroleum jelly) on paw pads to protect against salt and other chemicals. If your dog will tolerate them, booties provide even more coverage and can also prevent sand and salt from getting lodged between bare toes and causing irritation.

• Use pet-friendly ice melts whenever possible.

• Cold and dry weather can cause itchy, flaking skin. Keep your home humidified and towel dry your pet as soon as he comes inside, paying special attention to his feet and in-between the toes.

• If your dog is short-haired, consider getting him a coat or sweater with a high collar or turtleneck with coverage from the base of the tail to the belly.

• Make sure your companion animal has a warm place to sleep, off the floor and away from all drafts.

Our Humane Agents have seized countless dogs who were dehydrated, hypothermic, and barely clinging to life. These animals are receiving critical treatment and being closely monitored. The strain this crisis is putting on our resources is enormous.

This is a severe winter weather emergency, and it is unacceptable that animals are being left out in this cold. Pets can—and do—freeze to death in milder conditions than these. Our team is working around the clock to respond to every call, but we cannot keep this up alone.

Donations are urgently needed to provide these vulnerable animals with medical care, food, warmth, and shelter. Please consider making a contribution to our rescue fund or donating any essential items from our wish list of supplies. Your support could mean the difference between life and death for an animal in need of our help. Thank you for your generosity during this critical time.

Dartanian 🤍

- Affectionate, Funny, Smart, Playful, Friendly
- Vaccinations up to date, spayed / neutered.

Meet Dartanian, a dashing 1.5 year old, whose energy and charm are as striking as the spots on his sleek coat. This lively boy is a true adventurer at heart, always ready to bound into action and turn an ordinary day into something extraordinary.
Dartanian loves to run-whether it’s racing through the yard, jogging alongside you, or chasing after his favorite toy, he’s happiest when he’s on the move. His athletic spirit makes him the perfect companion for an active family or individual who enjoys outdoor activities and is looking for a buddy to share their adventures.
But Dartanian isn’t just all about action; he’s also a sweetheart. With his warm brown eyes and gentle demeanor, he has a way of melting hearts wherever he goes. He’s eager to please and thrives on attention and praise, making him not only a handsome guy but also a delight to have around. And let’s face it—this
“good boy” knows how to strike a pose and turn.

Wyatt ❤️

- Affectionate, Friendly, Gentle, Playful, Smart, Funny
- Vaccinations up to date, spayed / neutered.

This is our sweet boy Wyatt! Wyatt is approximately 5 years old. He’s a gray Cane Corso mix.

This lovable companion is the perfect balance of energy and ease. He thrives on daily exercise and is always up for exploring new sights and smells. Wyatt’s natural curiosity makes him a joy to watch as he investigates his surroundings with his wagging tail and sparkling eyes. Yet, once he’s had his fill of fun, Wyatt is just as content to curl up by your side, ready for belly rubs and a cozy nap.

Wyatt was also brought in with his sister.
As you can tell by the photos they are extremely emaciated. However, they are also extremely dehydrated. A concerned citizen dumped dozens of pounds of food in a bin with them. As we know their intentions were good, eating large amounts of food when this starving can unfortunately be a death sentence.
