To my Facebook followers who may be considering adding a German Shepherd to your family..I want to share this with you..Meet the beautiful young “Nala” who’s owner came to us for grooming services.Today was her second visit.I was shocked to see her condition and asked what had happened to her..her owner expressed that she had contracted a bacterial condition(most likely caused by an immune system disorder sadly)..Please be careful in selecting your breeder of your GSD..Nalas condition was most likely caused by too close and repetitive inbreeding..there is a lot of ignorance and greed going around with our beloved breed being the innocent victims who suffer..far too many just concentrating on a look or conformation with no regard for the health or temperament of their puppies!!Beauty does not equal good health!Please do your research and ask questions..how long has the breeder been a breeder of German Shepherds?Are there good reviews on their kennel that go back more than 8 -10 years?Have they changed lines and if so for what reason?Do they breed more than just GSDS?Red Flag if they do..a good breeder will dedicate their program to one breed because it is their passion..not for profit!
This situation with Nala saddens me to the core!She is barely 2 years old and just lightly brushing her coat made her uncomfortable..she’s on her way to recovery but it is a process and she’s clearly mentally drained of being handled by veterinarians and techs by the way she reacted today..
I hope to be able to make her next grooming a positive experience..
Again..please do your research in any breed you choose as a new member of your family..
