We offer dog training including obedience, Agility, Rally Obedience, Tracking and more! Blue Barn Ranch boards horses, dogs, cats and small animals. Horse boarding starts at $325.00 per month and includes a 24X24' corral with a shade cover, your horse's hay (Bermuda grass and/or alfalfa, fed 3 times daily), water, mucking daily and use of our facility. We have corrals with three-sided shelters an

d barn stalls with attached corrals also. Our amenities include: two arenas, three round pens, a hot walker, two tack rooms, wash rack and a clean restroom. We can provide additional services such as turn outs, blanketing, supplementing and grooming. Residents can enjoy our private Equestrian Path. We vacation board horses by the day or week also. Horses must have proof of current Rhino/Flu and EWT/WNV. A current negative Coggins test is required for all horses arriving from out of state. Dogs board at $40.00 per day. This includes their food, (unless they require a special diet) and a play/exercise session daily. Dogs must be up to date on vaccinations for their age. Canine required vaccinations: rabies, combination shot and Bordetella. Cats board at $32.00 per day. Their food is included (unless they require a special diet) and attention daily. Feline required vaccination: rabies and combination shot. We have discounts for military, service professions, seniors, multiple dogs/cats in board, and discounts for dogs/cats adopted from a shelter. Short and long-term boarding available for dogs and small animals as well as extended board for deployments or relocation. We have three fenced training areas and a fenced Agility Course. Canine Pool available to dogs in board or daycare. Beginner Swim Instruction $50. (Required 30 minute session prior to scheduling other pool activities.) Individual Swim Session $25. for a 15 minute session allowing additional instruction or play. Swim Pass (5 Sessions) $100. Save money by purchasing a swim pass. Super Swim Pass (10 Sessions) $180. Save even more money with our largest swim pass! We offer beginner through advanced obedience training, Agility, Rally Obedience, Treibball, Tracking and Scent Games, AKC Canine Good Citizen, socialization and grooming too! We keep you in touch with your four-legged family via status updates and pictures. Drop off/pick up time slots are designated. You can drop off or pick up between 7-8:00 am or between 5-6:00 pm seven days a week, most days of the year. We care like you care! 760.965.6019

Tips From The Training Yard:

Providing Calm Correction!

Calmly applied corrections provide your dog with information. This information is vital to a puppy that you are raising, a dog that you adopted, a pushy, assertive dog, even a sensitive, anxious dog! You must inform your dog where their mistake is and provide the correct/desired behavior. Reward desired behavior to increase it.

Use all four quadrants of operant conditioning, this is the science of dog training. Take into account the dog in front of you and adjust accordingly, this is the art of dog training!

Corrections don't make our dogs fearful! Living with a frustrated, unpredictable human is often what makes our dogs anxious and afraid.

Blue Barn Ranch trains both ends of the leash so that you can live safely and happily with your dog. Let's get to work!

High Prey Drive Dogs

Any dog can exhibit prey drive, it is the innate desire to chase and capture prey. While a dog's prey drive may be instinctual, it can be very stressful for the owner. Try the following:

Exercise your dog regularly. Playing fetch with a ball or throwing a Frisbee is a great way to engage this drive safely. A flirt pole can be used to simulate chasing and capturing "prey". Tug is a very satisfying game, be sure that you initiate and end the session with cues.

Train your dog. Teaching "Leave It!" and having an obedience trained dog will allow you to direct your dog to desired behavior.

Manage your dog's environment. Provide adequate fencing and snap that leash on to be sure he won't be practicing undesired behavior!

Choosing What Feels Good Over What Does Good!

The phrases "force free" and "purely positive" among others, are used to influence owners.

Snapping a leash on your dog is compelling them to do what you want and "purely positive" is a myth because even telling your dog "no" is correction! Training provides your dog with vital information and you are entrusted to teach them.

Choosing what sounds good and feels good often does not do good! Let's keep it real and actually help our dogs!

Use all four quadrants of operant conditioning. Be prepared to put in some time and effort. Be patient. Find a professional trainer that will provide you unbiased, reality based, effective training.

You and your dog will feel better and do better!

Our Story

Blue Barn Ranch is a family-owned boarding facility. We board horses, dogs, cats, small animals and reptiles! We are people and pet CPR and First Aid certified. Kathi is an IACP Certified Dog Trainer and an AKC CGC Evaluator. We have several options for horse boarding. Board includes your horse's hay (Bermuda grass and/or alfalfa fed three times daily), water, mucking two times a day and use of our facility. We have corrals with shade covers, corrals with three-sided shelters, corrals in our pipe barn and barn stalls with attached corrals. Our horse amenities include: two arenas, two round pens, a hot walker, two secure tack rooms, cross ties, a wash rack and a clean restroom. We can provide additional services such as turn-outs, blanketing, supplementing and grooming. Residents can enjoy our private Equestrian Path. We do vacation boarding for horses, the cost is $20.00 per day. Dogs board at $30.00 per day. This includes their food,( unless they require a special diet) and play/exercise. Cats board at $22.00 per day. Their food is included (unless they require a special diet) and play/attention. The following discounts are available for dog, cat and small animal boarding: military service, seniors, multiple animals in board, and for animals adopted from a shelter. Short and long-term boarding available for dogs and small animals as well as extended board for deployments or relocation. We have a fenced Training Yard, an Agility Course and a Training Studio with a fenced training yard. We offer Basic Obedience, Beyond Basic Obedience, Agility, Tracking/Scent Games and Rally Obedience. Testing for the Canine Good Citizen award is available. You can arrange socialization and grooming too! We keep you in touch with your four- legged family via status updates and pictures. Blue Barn Ranch is open 7 am to dusk for horse activities.
