Yesterday, our hearts absolutely melted when our new arrivals revealed themselves.
We received 4 miniature Mediterranean donkeys! You all know that minis are cute, right, well these sweeties topped the charts on the adorable scale.
They are senior mom and dad along with their two offspring!
These cutie pies had an excellent owner and have been well cared for.
We can't wait to share them with you at our Winter Festival this coming Sunday. Dec. 15 from 12pm to
Special thank you to volunteer Matt for going to making the trip to pick them up.
Update on Phoenix
When the everyone else failed him, we saved him.
You all remember our miracle save from September 2024?
This was a heartbreaking case for us that really laid heavy on our hearts. We were contacted in June about a group of horses that were in urgent need of help. The caretakers tried to facilitate a relinquishment, but when things went south we were left with no choice but to seek help from animal control.
Unfortunately, before animal control could arrange the check up some of the worst looking horses were quietly removed. The very affluent owners were able to get cleared with AC and 100% refused our help and lied about the situation.
Months later we received a call from an old acquaintance asking for us to please come get this skinny horse that somehow ended up in her possession(we don't know the in-between story).
As a rescue, we said yes and brought the horses home later realizing that this was the very horse that we had fought for just months prior. He was 100 miles from where we had last seen him.
He is the only horse that we were able to save from the initial 11 that we were asked to help. Although we are uncertain of the fate of the others, we are relieved to have this sweet horse.
Along with his new life with us he gained a more suitable name to meet his story, Phoenix.
Phoenix was so close to the end, his light was dim and his body weak.
In just 2 months, he has completely transformed. Phoenix is not sound and he is still nearing the end of his journey, but he can now live out his remaining time with a full belly and people surrounding him.
We included two photos which were taken on 9/3/24 when he was covered in fungus and extremely malnourished just days after arrival.
Phoenix is under full sponsorship by Chris and Matt.

Time to ask Whiskey to work with the flag and help teach Jeremiah that it's ok.
Whiskey handled the flag like a champ. Maybe she's carried a flag or two in the past, we'll never know.
This sweet mare is not currently in our Winter Festival but maybe we should consider adding her. She's kind, easygoing, and not afraid of the flag!

We could not be more thrilled about this!!
We had a horse relinquished to us a few months ago and the owner reached out and said his friend would like to make a donation as a token of appreciation for our help.
We contacted his friend, Peter, and he asked us what we truly needed at the ranch. After thinking over all the items that we do need, we prioritized a tractor.
Peter was very happy to help us make this happen!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, this is a huge upgrade from our small yellow dragging tractor.
This will make a huge impact here at our ranch!
This was an incredible donation and we appreciate it.

A lot of behind the scenes work goes into preparing for our events. We have to make sure that our horses are up for the challenge.
The average non horsey person often times just assumes that the horses naturally just do this stuff. The reality is that, we spend hours training them to be ok with crowds of people, loud noises, waiving flags, and more.
We can't wait to see you all on December 15th!

Flag training for upcoming event.
You can see that Jeremiah is beginning to calm down. He is still afraid when the flag gets close to him, but he doesn't mind walking behind it as much as before.
