Tessie is still looking for her forever home! She is fostered in Tonganoxie, KS.

Hi! My name is Tesha but I go by Tessie. My foster mom named me Tesha because it means "survivor". I was rescued from an abandoned house two years ago. I was starving to death and found severely emaciated. My foster family got me back to good health physically but even though time has passed, I have a lot of emotional baggage and major trust issues with humans because of how I was previously treated. A lady never tells her age but the vet guesses I'm six years old. I'm in excellent shape, have a docked tail, and long weim ears. My absolute favorite thing to do is go for walks in the woods. That is where I feel free! I run all over, but never have run away and even if I run ahead, I'll always come back to check on my foster mom. When I was rescued in 2020 I lived with my foster family for 3 months and then was adopted. My new dad loved me a lot and took me everywhere. I really overcame a lot of issues while with my new dad, however, his other female Weimaraner never approved of me. The fights escalated (she was always the instigator and I only fought back if cornered), but after multiple trips to the ER to fix us both up he decided it was best to return me to my foster family so I could be safe. So I've been back in Tonganoxie for the past two months with my original foster family. I did a better job of adjusting to their house this time. The first time I arrived in 2020 it took me two weeks before they even saw my tail wiggle with joy. Now I greet my parents at the door with a happy tail, but then I typically revert back to a shyer version of myself. I want to show affection, but just can't trust enough yet to seek out getting petted. Though I'm your typical weim and a silver shadow in the house- even though I don't like to be touched I do like to be in the same room as my family. The biggest thing that has helped me overcome my past is the support of other dogs. I need to be around other dogs to help calm me and show me what to do. I currently live with three other big dogs, plus cats, horses, and poultry. I live at peace with them all. My house is pretty busy because in addition to the animal crew I also live with four kids. I'm never mean to them, but chose not to interact at all with them. I take lots and lots of patience and love. If you're willing to put in the time to continue helping me heal then I promise in time, I'll trust you more and more.
