Cat nails are biologically designed to be sharp, that’s why their nails grow in keratin layers and they’re retractable. :)

Dremel is not the appropriate method of shortening for the anatomy of this type of nail. A dremel is beneficial for nails that grow from under the cuticle bed, like dogs, rabbits, humans.

The amount of time and stress needed for dremelling does not outweigh the limited or temporary benefit of rounded nails. As a professional cat groomer, I would rather use that time and capacity for their tolerance towards the dryer.

Yesterday we hosted professional pet groomers, and business owners from around the US here at the Yuma Cat Hotel. We had a total of 13 people attend the first annual association of feline holistic specialists. Thank you for attending this lovely event. We had a great time hosting. Enjoyed meeting pet professionals from all over in person. 7:45 AM. I’m not gonna lie when I say I came down Maiden Lane this morning, I had a brief heart attack when I saw him 😳😱 and then I realized nobody could get out. This is Kitty Fort Knox. 🔒💯 He took off as soon as I got out of my car.
Upon further discovery with other businesses, this guy has figured out when the temperatures are over 110°F…He can open up the businesses downtown mail slots enough to get some cool air. 🫶🌵

New Year’s Eve is a holiday that often has 💥 fireworks. We stayed the night here the very first fireworks holiday. Just to see/hear…And you know what, you can’t hear anything inside the Lane building downtown where we are.

This building is so cool and it’s really quiet inside. There’s not a lot of traffic noise inside this building at all. Which I love. 💕 we do turn up the TV a little bit louder tonight but honestly, we really don’t need too. I was thinking about Independence Day or maybe Beetlejuice… of course the cats always decide. 💯🐈‍⬛

A recent study on temperature profiles in 2022 took a deeper look at sun-exposed surfaces and how they lead to burn injuries.

We know that in a desert climate, humans as well as animals can sustain burn injuries from contact with hot, sun-exposed surfaces.

Here in the Sonoran Desert, where air temperatures can reach up to 120 regularly, some cities initiate hiking-bans and even write tickets for individuals exposing their canine companions to prolonged outdoor weather.

No one questions the animal abuse and neglect when it comes to walking dogs in the middle of the day without foot protection—but as always our feline companions are often missed in the discussion.

Surface-burn injuries can be deep, full-thickness burns that can require veterinary care and possibly lead to open wounds and infections.

Pavement burns are a unique type of contact burn that form from prolonged contact with a surface that has been exposed to the sun during a period of high temperature. While darting from shady spot to shady spot might help limit that prolonged exposure, continuous exposure can lead to deeper injuries and pavement surfaces are not the only concern.

Various surfaces such as asphalt, concrete, brick, metal, porous rock, or any other ground surface exposure retains heat throughout the day, and with enough exposure to continuous direct sunlight they can cause high enough temperatures that immediately burn upon contact.
