We’re so sorry for the inconvenience of having to reschedule everyone’s grooming appointments today. We’ve received some difficult news about our sweet pup, Raya. 💔
This morning at about 1am Raya gave us quite the scare. She woke up screaming and in so much pain we couldn't touch her without causing her more pain. With no emergency vet service here in Yuma I did what I could. We had extra medication on hand from her knee surgery in June. I gave her a sedative and a pain medication to keep her calm and comfortable until we could be seen at our vet this morning.

After running some tests and getting X-rays at our vet this morning, we learned she has a deformed spine and a form of IVDD (intervertible disc disease). In layman's terms, she has a crooked spine, several vertebrae rubbing together, possible calcification (arthritis), and spinal discs that shift causing immense pain. With these complications and spinal deformaties, surgery isn’t the greatest option for her. We’re focusing on pain management for now and then learning to navigate how to manage this long term to give her as much comfort as possible. However, if her pain becomes too much or can't be managed to a degree that she can live a happy life, we may have to make the heartbreaking decision to let her go. For now, we’re just taking things one day at a time, soaking up every moment with her, and praying for the best.
We have taken the weekend to process this and gather ourselves so we can return to work. Thank you all for your understanding, patience, and kindness during this time. 🐾💜

What it’s all about....

I've always had a way with animals, even as a child, everyone was sure I’d grow up and follow a career in veterinary medicine. For a while I was sure I would too. I interned as a veterinary assistant for 2 years, in that time I experienced and learned so much. The joys and smiles my help could bring, as well as the heartache. At the end of those 2 years I realized I only wanted to make people smile. Being in a field where one deals a large part in sick or injured animals does not put smiles on pet parents faces or on ones own face for that matter. So I made a switch, I started my career path as a Pet Groomer. I began at the bottom and started as a bather learning the basics and built my skills up over a long period of time, I continue to learn and face new challenges everyday with each client I take on. I am able to do breed cuts and am very proud to be able to call myself a Professional Pet Groomer. During my years of learning to become a Professional Pet Groomer is how I also became a pet sitter. A friend asked if I would watch their fur family while they went on vacation, they also wanted me to groom them while they were away, I agreed and that family recommended me to other families. Soon I had many families calling upon me to pet sit for them while they were away. I got my business license and became official in 2016. I have remained a small business owner ever since. I prefer to stay small as it allows me to focus more on all the critters I care for on a much more personal level. To me this isn’t just a job, this is something that found me. I love seeing the joy of a pet parent return home to their pets who have anxiously awaited their return. The happiness that fills both pet and pet parent alike at pick up after a grooming service. These are the moments I live for and this is what it’s all about.
