We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to making our first dog food drive such a tremendous success. Your generosity and support have truly made a difference for pets in need. Building on this momentum, we’re excited to announce that we’re expanding our efforts with a Community Food Drive! This time, all of our clinic locations are coming together to support pets in need within our community. We’d love your continued support as we work together to make this initiative impactful for everyone. Thank you for being a part of this amazing journey and for helping us support our four-legged members of our community!

Good morning, just a reminder for our patients' safety. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and Happy Kwanzaa to all (any any other holiday celebrations I have missed.
Holiday decorations such as old-fashioned bubble lights may contain poisonous chemicals. If a pet chews on them, the liquid inside could be dangerous to their health. Methylene chloride, the chemical in older bubble lights, can result in depression, aspiration pneumonia, and irritation to the eyes, skin, and gastrointestinal tract.
If glass ornaments were to be bitten in to, or broken, the small glass pieces can lead to lacerations to the skin and mouth, as well as damage to the esophagus and gastrointestinal tract.
Homemade dough ornaments pose a risk for causing elevated sodium levels that may lead to severe neurologic abnormalities.
Oral electrical burns can develop from chewing on strands of lights, particularly cats and puppies.
While tinsel itself is not “poisonous,” it can result in a linear foreign body when eaten. As the intestines contract and move, this string or linear foreign body can slowly saw through the tissue, resulting in severe, potentially life-threatening damage to your pet’s intestinal tract. Ultimately, pets run the risk of severe injury to, or rupture of, their intestines and treatment requires costly abdominal surgery.
Though they have a bad rap, poinsettia plants are only mildly toxic. Far more worrisome are holiday bouquets containing lilies (Lilium spp), holly, or mistletoe. Just one or two bites from a lily can result in kidney failure in cats.
Foods containing grapes, raisins, and currants (such as fruit cakes, breads, and cookies) can result in kidney failure in dogs.
Chocolate and cocoa contain theobromine, a chemical highly toxic to dogs and cats. Ingestion in small amounts can cause vomiting and diarrhea but in large amounts can cause seizures and heart arrhythmias.
Many sugarless gums and candies contain xylitol, a sweetener which is toxic to dogs. It causes a life-threatening drop in blood sugar and liver failure.
Leftover fatty, meat scraps can produce severe inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis) leading to abdominal pain, vomiting and bloody diarrhea
Rum-soaked fruitcake, or unbaked dough that contains yeast, in addition to alcoholic drinks, result in alcohol poisoning. Ingestion of alcohol can cause dangerous drops in blood sugar, blood pressure, and body temperature. Intoxicated animals can experience seizures and respiratory failure.
Please do your best to keep our beloved patients safe and enjoying a lovely family time with you.

Good afternoon everyone! We wanted to extend our gratitude to every client and non client that took their time to drop off a bag of food. We know times are hard, but a lot of you went out of your way to help regardless and you don’t know how much it was appreciated. We can accomplish so as a community and we hope to help Crossroads Rescue Mission again. If you didn’t get to help this time, we hope you join us for our next Christmas Pet Food Drive! Again, thank you so much for your continued support. We love you and Happy Thanksgiving🐾

The DVC Story

Established in 1989, our clinic provides full service, high quality care to your pets while maintaining personalized attention and a home-like atmosphere. We offer wellness care, full service medical and general surgical and dental care and a variety of specialized procedures and treatments like laser and PRP therapies for your pets. We are Yuma's first and only AAHA accredited clinic. Our doctors are on call for emergencies 24 hours, 7 days a week which also messes with our schedule sometimes, but we will always give you our full attention when it is your time. Our clinic is NOT open 24 hours. After we are closed, you must call and have a doctor plan to meet you at our hospital. Our answering service will take your information for the doctor to return your call or patch the call through directly.

Our goal is to treat you and your pet like family (the good family ;) ), to provide the best possible care and partner with you to give your pets their best, longest, quality life. We have grown from being in a little 900 square foot remodeled house, to a custom designed 3000 square foot hospital, to now a custom 9000 square foot hospital with medical, surgical, dental, behavior and other facilities to meet that goal. We want to maintain an incredible and talented team of nurses and doctors to meet that goal even if it means charging higher prices than another local clinic... to offer advanced but personalized care and emergency service is expensive and our team needs to be able to care for themselves in order to care for you.

Dr Haugo and her team of experienced doctors and nurses provide the personalized care you expect. We come in early, stay late and sometimes even take your pet home with us. If needed, a referral to specialist or 24 hour facility out of town is provided as well. We are your partners in doing what needs to be done every day to give your pet their best life.
