I am so excited to announce that we have added a third pet stylist to our team!

Let’s talk about something that might ruffle a few feathers in the grooming industry 😏

Many of my clients know it’s the one thing I just won’t do and I won’t make my employees do!
We do not express a**l glands and it’s a decision we’ve made intentionally from the very beginning.

Many pet owners have been told it’s a routine part of grooming, but healthy dogs are designed to express their a**l glands naturally. When that’s not happening, there is often a bigger issue that deserves attention from a veterinarian.

Our goal has always been to provide the best care possible and I believe in educating my clients, that’s where I set my standards. My decisions aren’t based on industry habits they’re based on what I believe is in the best interest of the dog.

Sometimes doing what’s best for the dog means knowing where grooming ends and veterinary care begins. 🫶🏼✌🏼

And then there’s this guy… rocking a mullet like he was born for it 🤘😂 🤩

Honestly, his parents are some of the coolest people around, so it only makes sense their dog would have this much personality too.

WHY STRUCTURED SOCIALIZATION MATTERS

A tired dog is great.
A mentally balanced and properly socialized dog is even better. 🖤

One of the biggest misconceptions about daycare is that dogs should spend all day in nonstop play. In reality, too much stimulation, overcrowding, and unmanaged group play can actually create stress, bad habits, reactivity, and exhaustion.

That’s why we created our Social Club differently.

Our goal is not chaos.
Our goal is structured, positive socialization in a calm, supervised environment.

Not all daycare is created equal.

Dogs need more than nonstop chaos and overcrowded rooms. Proper socialization should be structured, supervised, and intentional. 🖤

At Grooming by Josephine, our Social Club focuses on:
• supervised small-group interactions
• structured play with rest breaks
• confidence building
• healthy social habits
• calm energy and positive experiences
• quality care over overcrowding

Socialization should help dogs learn how to:
✨ interact appropriately
✨ build confidence around other dogs
✨ regulate excitement levels
✨ practice healthy play and boundaries
✨ become more comfortable in different environments

Not every dog benefits from uncontrolled daycare settings. Many dogs actually thrive more in smaller, structured environments where they can socialize safely without becoming overstimulated.

✨ Proper Pomeranian grooming is not just about making them “look fluffy.”
It’s about protecting the coat they were born with. ✨

A Pom’s coat should be maintained with regular brushing, proper deshedding, routine trims, and consistent grooming schedules — not shaved down unless medically necessary.

When the coat is repeatedly shaved short, it can permanently change texture, damage regrowth, create patchiness, and affect how the coat regulates temperature.

And if you love that cute “teddy bear” look — that does not automatically mean your Pom needs to be shaved down. A skilled professional groomer should be able to create a soft, rounded teddy bear appearance through proper scissor work and coat shaping while still preserving the integrity of the coat. ✂️☁️

A well-maintained Pomeranian should still look like a Pomeranian.

Healthy coat care includes:
• Routine deshed treatments
• Line brushing & proper drying
• Hand sc******ng and coat shaping
• Consistent appointments every 4–6 weeks
• Patience and proper coat maintenance at home

Not every coat issue can be fixed in one appointment, especially after years of improper grooming or lack of maintenance — but consistency makes all the difference.

Your dog’s coat is an investment. Treat it like one!
