Must Luv Dogs Rescue A 501(c)3 foster based dog rescue in Zachary LA Must Luv Dogs Rescue's mission statement is: "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves".

Based on Proverbs 31:8-9, we believe it is our responsibility to be the voice of these beautiful four-legged souls. Too often they are abused or neglected by a human who is responsible for taking care of them. Even though they are let down by their humans, they remain loyal. Many times they are dumped and discarded. They have no voice to ask for help. We are that voice.

Beginning tonight after this bad weather rolls thru it will be bitterly cold in our area all week. Please make sure all pets are set up to stay warm! And please… if you see a dog being neglected in this cold please please help them!

PLEASE don’t let “outside” dogs suffer or even die in these extreme temperatures!!!
Highs in the 30's and lows in the teens are coming!

BRING THEM INSIDE: The best option is to keep all pets indoors. However, if they must stay outside, you must ensure they have adequate protection from the harsh cold. Breeds like Huskies are equipped to handle winter thanks to their thick double coats, which provide insulation. On the other hand, dogs like Pit mixes, with their thinner coats and exposed undersides, are more susceptible to the cold and should either be brought inside or given insulated shelter. Puppies and older, frail, or sick dogs are particularly at risk in cold weather and require additional protection.

PROVIDE SHELTER: When temperatures drop below 45 degrees, having access to an insulated doghouse, garage, or shed can help keep your dog warm. Dogs that are used to living indoors or in milder climates should not be left outside during freezing conditions. Make sure the shelter is readily accessible, as you may not be home when the temperatures plummet.

INSULATE SHELTER: While a plastic or wooden doghouse can shield them from wind, it won't keep them warm without proper insulation. Use straw bedding—not hay—to insulate outdoor shelters. If you’re using straw to insulate a doghouse, it should be packed tightly along the sides and back. The dog should be able to burrow down into the straw for warmth. Bales of straw typically cost $10 or less at local feed stores and can fill 3-4 doghouses.

Dogs MUST have UNFROZEN water. Be sure to check on this several times a day

PLEASE take small steps to ensure your pets are safe when the fireworks begin tonight. Remember...they can hear MILES farther than we can! Also, if you don't have your pet microchipped or tagged, go old school...write your phone # inside of their collars with a permanent marker!.... HAPPY NEW YEAR! 🐶

These 2 precious sisters, Olive & Mo, have been down on their luck. Their daddy went into a care home, leaving them without a family. The foster home that took them in realized they only wanted 1 dog instead of 2. They are back in a boarding kennel for now. Olive & MO are 5 year old bonded littermates. We are currently looking for a FOSTER FAMILY committed to keep them until they can get settled in well enough to overcome their separation anxiety. Understandably, they are quite nervous at first, but every day they get a little better. They need a home where someone will be able to spend lots of time with them until they can relax enough to get their routines down. PLEASE don't offer to foster until you can you commit to giving them a few weeks to be able to see their precious personalities peek through. If you aren't familiar with the "Rule of Threes" in rescue, please google it. You don't need money to foster for us. You don't need supplies, food, or medical care...WE will provide all of that.. THE only thing we ask of you is T-I-M-E & a secure, safe place for them to stay. These poor girls are confused from losing the only home/family they've ever known . They need a soft place to land & someone who will be attentive and loving for them. We're not looking for permanent adopters at this time. Obviously, IF the fosters fall in love and decide to adopt later, that's fine, but currently we are simply looking for fosters. PLEASE help us by spreading the word. THEY CANNOT be separated, as they are deeply bonded with one another. FOSTER NEEDED - These 2 sweet babies (1 male, 1 female) were dumped on Lemon B Road in Slaughter today.💔 Since East Feliciana parish has no animal services, they need a foster to step up for them.

Meet sweet Lola! Lola came to us almost a year ago. She was in terrible shape. She had scarring from embedded collar/chain, skin lesions, heartworms & her front teeth are almost completely worn down from chewing at a chain/kennel. Fast forward until now....this beautiful almost 3 year old boxer mix is a completely different dog!! We've taken care of all of her medical needs. After fast-kill treatment, she's now HW negative, with love, patience & special love, her amazing foster mom, Heather Allaway, has brought this precious girl back into health & she's now ready to find her very own FUREVER HOME!! Please read her profile to see if she'd be a good fit with your family! She is so sweet and such a beautiful soul!

Meet Olive & Mo. They are bonded littermates. Their daddy was put into a care home so they are now homeless. We want to help find a great family to adopt these beautiful 5 yr old pugs sisters but they cannot be separated. They are currently being boarded at a local vet until we can find a foster willing to take them in for us. RIP John Wayne

Rest in Peace John Wayne. Many of you may recall this sweet boy from early 2023. We rescued him from a bad situation after his owner passed away. This senior pup was ultimately adopted by Donna Montagnino & family. After some health issues, John Wayne crossed over the rainbow bridge today. We are grateful to Donna and family for giving him a soft place to land to spend his last year of life on earth. We know he’s reunited with his former owner now and while & happy. #mustluvdogsrescue🐶

Meet Foxy! Foxy is an approx. 18 month old, 24 pound, border collie mix. She was brave enough to bring her 2 small puppies out of a very dense wooded area in a remote area to get them the help they needed. Now that her 2 puppies are weaned & adopted, Foxy has spent the past several weeks learning how to be a puppy on her own! She started out very skittish and untrusting. She has quickly blossomed into one of the sweetest pups! She loves playing with toys, chasing balls & wrestling with her foster pups! She even snuggles with her foster family! Foxy is extremely smart & very agile. She'd be a wonderful candidate for agility training! Foxy is one of the most athletic pups we've ever seen! Foxy loves other pups & really needs at least one other dog in the home who adopts her! Foxy's adoption fee is $200. She is HW negative, up-to-date on all vaccines, spayed & microchipped. Our Story

This page is the result of many years of working in animal rescue, volunteering at various shelters and adoption programs, as well as establishing the local lost pets page. Through the FB page, the lost pets page has helped reconnect hundreds of lost pets with their families as well as rescue countless abandoned strays. After working with a local governmental agency to help develop a program for animal control, and being frustrated at the lack of desire and/or dedication of funds to bring that goal to fruition, I, with the support of a couple of friends who share a passion for animal rescue, have formed this 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to helping dogs within our reach. It is truly my belief that we are to be the voice of these precious creatures of God. Thus, our mission statement is “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves.” Proverbs 31:8. God wants us to care for all of his creation with compassion. Dogs have a special place in our lives. They are the MOST loyal & trustworthy of friends. They will love us, no matter who we are or what we do. They are quick to forgive & eager to please. Yet, when they are lost, in need, or suffering from abuse or neglect, they have no voice to ask for help. They have no feet to walk for help. They have no power to knock on our door to report it. We have to be their eyes, ears and voice. That's what this group is all about! We hope you'll join us as a volunteer, foster, donor or just a FB follower! Thank you!
