8. Eat a pup cup that my friend didn't feel like finishing (Jaxson gives 2 paws up ! Thank you Ollie and Tara for sharing!)
9. Water submersion with friends (Thank you Rebecca for the awesome pool!)

Please read and share this post. Teaching our children AND adults what safe interaction is,is critical for living happily with our pets. Don't put anyone in jeopardy, 2 legged or 4 legged.

Let's talk about this photo. It's cute, except it's not. I see a dog who cannot get up without telling the child to get off. How do you think a dog is going to do that?

The 7 Golden Toddler Dog Rules:
#1: If a dog walks away from you, you DO NOT FOLLOW.
#2: Always leave room for the dog to walk away from you.
---that right there is 90+% of dog bites eliminated---
#3: We do not climb on the dog.
#4: We do not grab or pull on the dog.
#5: We do not hit or throw anything at the dog.
#6: We do not touch the dog's food.
#7: We do not go into the dog's kennel.

I promise these are not overly difficult concepts for littles, nor will they rob a kid of their bond with the family dog. It will deepen that bond, while keeping everyone safe.

"Oh, it looks like Moose is walking away from you. She is saying she wants a break. Let's play with this instead!"

"It's Moose's dinner time! Let's give her space to enjoy her yummies."

"That is Moose's room(kennel) and only she is allowed to go in there."

"If Moose wanted a break, could she walk away from you right now? No she really couldn't. Let's move away from the play house. You can keep playing but now she can leave when she wants a break."

In conclusion, ***parent your child or your dog will do it for you, and you will not like how they do it.***

Going to be a hot week! So outdoor play will be during the early parts and late eve parts of the day. They alway do fast potties when it's this warm. But Hoagie wants you to know he doesn't care as long as he has his pool :)

Beginner Obedience classes are starting in June. Beginner are for all ages of friendly or concerned dogs. The course is 6 weeks long meeting 1 hr per week. The total cost for the 6 week course is $175. Payment reserves your spot.

Are you and your dog ready for the next level? We have 2 different classes available in June. ADVANCED is for the family that needs to improve basic obedience skills with distractions present. Learn how to strengthen your dogs work ethic and response to your cues. Great for adolescent dogs.

Wellllll this is our NEW trusty cellphone :) With the old one meeting it's demise in a grand fashion we are now missing all of our client contact info with their pet names and breeds. PAWS of Muskingum County Ohio had a wonderful event today! The weather tried to dampen our spirits, but there was no way we were going to let that happen. Had so many wonderful visitors and a lot of familiar faces and paws. We'll be there next year!! Thank you for including us!

Out at the PAWS event today! Come out and join us before the rain. We have enrichment stations for the dogs and we are also hiring for our facility expansion! Free microchipping for your pets, drone demo for lost pets, crafts, treats, plants and other fun for sale!! Don't be sissy strap on the leash. You and your dog won't melt! ;) Food trucks, too!!!

Happy birthday Mr. Conner! He is such a goof, you never quite know what to expect from him! He said the cookie was nice, but the cake toy was way too much fun 🙂

We also celebrated his sister Lucy’s birthday, because she wasn’t at daycare on her special day and her parents didn’t want her to feel left out! ❤️❤️ And boy was she excited!

Fast CAT! It's a 100 yd dash for dogs! Any size, any breed or mixed breed can do it! Here are the starts of 2 runs with a Greyhound and another with a whippet. The timer shows the time and then the mph. It is amazing to watch. There was a Pomeranian all the way to a Rhodesian Ridgebacks, Standard Poodles, German Shepherds, Staffies, mini Bull Terriers... a wonderful time had by all!

We love our food puzzles and fun play equipment, but you can do fantastic enrichment activities with your dogs with just recyclables, too!

Today’s daycare featured a box, some toilet paper tubes, Amazon packing paper and tasty treats!

You may notice that Conner preferred the toys, and that’s okay too 🙂

With the prediction of some pretty significant storms and possible tornadoes in our area, we have made the decision to cancel obedience classes for this evening. Hopefully, it passes us without causing any damage. Stay safe and dry. We'll see you next week for week #3.

Winnie aka “Win”

Many people ask us how soon you can start training your puppy. The answer is- right away! Meet Winnie aka Win, who had her first day of daycare yesterday! What a rockstar! We had a fabulous FULL first beginner class last night! The next one starts on April 6th at 10am. Call or text to sign up! 740-704-9238

Door manners

Another skill we worked on yesterday, waiting politely at a door/gate! The next steps include removing the mat and practicing at different doors! Day training to fit your needs! $125 a day, 2-3 days a week for 2 or 4 weeks.

Settle

Do you dream of having a dog that settles when you need to do work or want to read or surf Facebook? This was one thing we worked on in our day training room today! Training is catered to you and your household’s needs and expectations. Training sessions are multiple 15 minute sessions from 9-noon with processing breaks in between, then lunch followed by more sessions 1-3pm. Stay tuned for more examples!

Here is some of the fun we have in nose work class.…dogs working suspended hides.

Even if you never think you will need it, it is important for every dog to be muzzle trained. In cases of escape, injury, or high stress, a dog might need to be muzzled, and training them ahead of time can make this infinitely less stressful for everyone involved. A muzzle protects the dog as much as it protects the people. In the video below, notice how Finn willingly puts his face into the muzzle to get peanut butter that is spread on the inside. Putting his face in is HIS decision, not something forced on him. He actually even moved forward into the muzzle when we try to take it off. This is a great way to begin muzzle training your dog. There are many great resources and ideas for muzzle training, call or message us for more information! Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it!!
