The felines are already dancing this morning to see everyone today at 1:00 pm ♥️🐾 🐱
The Animal Shelter Society, Inc., is open today, September 22, 2024 from 1pm - 4pm for a special feline adoption event. Low cost adoption fees includes being fully vetted prior to going home. They are spayed/neutered, vaccinationed, flea/treatment, toe nail trims, microchipped, and dewormed. An amazing price for an amazing animal to keep the doors open of an amazing Animal Shelter who has been in place since 1959.🐾♥️. #animalshelter #adoptdontshop #The Animal Shelter Society, Inc.
The Animal Shelter Society, Inc. took in 23 felines last week and difficult dog cases in (4 days). Moms with babies, babies, move moms from an older liter to a younger liter, mothers killed, sick babies, very sick mommas trying to save their babies, babies killed etc. The description goes on & on. We are at capacity at our brick and mortar business. We are not able to take anymore in at this time. The animals are overwhelmed, our vet staff is overwhelmed, our intake staff are drained and our 100% non-profit organization’s funds are depleting. The medications, medical services and staffing hours are overwhelming to our organization. These animals did not ask for the life they were given. They did not ask to be flea ridden and starving. My staff did not ask to have their fingers bitten when they picked the kittens up due to them being so hungry. My staff did not ask to be yelled at by individuals who are upset that we have to call it. Yesterday, we had a kind young lady who was only attempting to help some cats she located in a home that was being vacated by individuals. She said many were still in the home & basement. She was distraught and very unsure how she can help the neglected & abandoned cats. We believe she was doing her best. She had 4 with her and we suggested fosters for the 4 she had. She returned 2 hours later asking if she could still take us up on kitten food, litter and small canned food because she found fosters for them. Good for her & we are happy that we were able to help her. Of course we donate these items so the community members can do the best they can as we are doing the best we can.
Our low cost spay/neuter clinic is the most affordable around our community. We do that to help the animals & our community. Please understand we do everything we can & at this time, have over 100 animals in our care. Stop by if you need help caring for the cats you’re trying to assist & please consider altering the cats so we stop the overwhelming populati
Put an education piece together this morning to help our public, supporters and community better understand some of the things that we do. This education is on why we do not have walkthroughs in the am. We open each day at 9am for customer service and close at 4:00 pm Monday through Friday (closed Tuesdays/Sundays). Customer service hours on Saturdays are 9a-3p. We close for lunch each day from noon - 12:30 pm. Our cat rooms and dog floor hours are 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm through the week and 12:30pm-2:15 pm Saturdays. We hope this explains why we do what we do. Thank you for your support and believing in our mission.🐾♥️
Thank you - Thank you - Thank you 🐾♥️
The Animal Shelter Society’s Inaugural Pickleball 4 Paws was simply amazing. We are so appreciative of our community’s support, the donors, sponsors, Muskingum County Family YMCA, our staff, volunteers, Board of Directors, the Pickleball community and especially our co-chairs of PB4P, Dee Mel & Adam Agin. We had a full line up and courts were full. We are already working on 2025 with request for entire day tournaments. With these funds - we are able to continue to offer our low cost spay/neuter clinic’s and especially for our Veterans & Senior population. Had a participant’s family member apply for our Miss Sparrow (who lost an eye due to a humans actions) while they were participating at the event and they were approved and she went home at the end of the event to her furever home. Now that is a purrfect day.
We had great participation bags with food - donations etc. The medals were amazing. Congratulations to all of the PB4P winners. In our opinion-you are all winners.
It was really cool to watch our executive director speak with (11) cadet’s from the Zane State College Police Academy who stopped by before class to support her (she is also an instructor). It was their last day of instruction and they were treated to lunch by April at Randy’s Backyard BBQ food truck who was set up at OUZ for the Paws of Muskingum County event to support them as well.
We are very fortunate in our community that we have the individuals we have caring for the animals that someone else did not.
Thank you all 🐾♥️
After the dogs came back inside after spending the entire morning & afternoon in their beautiful outside kennel areas this Christmas Day - they chose special gifts from our supporters.
Mr. Rory chose the grey lamb and is one happy boy in his kennel all nestled in his bed. You can hear our Executive Director gasp with happiness as he chose his special toy. It is how you make them happy is what matters. 🐾♥️
An average day at The Animal Shelter Society 🐾♥️
Mr Freddie, the Animal Shelter Society’s Feline Ambassador loves when Ray Ballard of Y Bridge Brewing Company LLC stops by to visit. Ray always brings goodies for the felines. We appreciate Ray and all that he does for us. ♥️🐾
On this “Giving Tuesday” - The Animal Shelter Society’s 1st donation this morning came from a very special young lady - Miss Ashton. The note is worth the most with all her gratitude for us and the $20. is much appreciated. Thank you Ashton for giving to us 🐾♥️
Meet Ruger. He came to us from a facility with a pretty horrific skin condition that needed our vet staff’s care. He is good to go to a great active home. He is very appreciative that someone cares for him. He knows the basic commands, listens, loves walks, his swimming pool and caring people. One of our specialized volunteers, Steve Carrel has worked many hours with Ruger. Visit our website: animalsheltersociety.org for more information on Ruger and to compete the adoption application so we can get Ruger into his forever home. He deserves it 🐾♥️
