🩺 No one wants to see their pet suffering - especially puppies!

🦠 We see a lot of parvovirus on St. Croix and want to make sure your dogs are protected against this deadly virus. Symptoms of parvo can include vomiting, diarrhea, and loss of appetite.

☑️ Please keep puppies separate from other dogs and do not take them to the beach or park until they are fully vaccinated with at least 3 sets of vaccines.

🩷 Ensure your puppies and dogs are up to date on their vaccines to keep these preventable diseases at bay!

Brace your heart 💗 … it’s you! They associate your scent with happiness, food security 😉, fun & safety!

Dogs have about 50x more olfactory receptors than we do, and the part of their brain that processes scents is seven times larger than it is in humans. Research has shown that not only do they know your scent, they have a positive association with it, especially in contrast to unfamiliar scents!

🚫 Attention Pet Owners: Xylitol may be sweet for humans, but it's toxic for our furry friends!

🍬 Keep your pets safe by avoiding products containing xylitol, such as sugar-free gum, candies, chewable vitamins, toothpaste, baking and certain peanut butters.

Remember, a little vigilance & label reading can go a long way in protecting our beloved companions. 🐾

If you suspect your pet has ingested Xylitol, swift action and veterinary care are essential to ensure the best possible outcome for your pet's health and well-being 📱

🐾 On St. Croix, it is super important to have your dog on medication to prevent fleas & ticks from making themselves too comfortable on your pet! 🏥 We see an unfortunate amount of tick fever here, and it is entirely preventable!

Ticks can infect your dog with tick fever such as Erlichia and Anaplasmosis. This can cause severe illness if left untreated.

Fleas can cause Bartonella in dogs and cats which can also cause severe illness if left untreated. If a flea is swallowed, it can infect your pet with tapeworms.

🚨 Cane Toad Alert!

🐶 Attention all dog owners on STX: Did you know that cane toads can be highly toxic to our beloved furry friends?

🐸 If your dog encounters a cane toad which results in them hyper salivating or foaming at the mouth, take immediate action 👇

1️⃣ Vigorously rinse your dog's mouth with water – a water hose works well for this. This helps to reduce the amount of toxin absorbed from the cane toad.

2️⃣ After rinsing, consider giving your dog activated charcoal capsules (keep them handy at home). These can help absorb any remaining toxins.

3️⃣ Call your veterinarian ASAP for further guidance and medical assistance.

🏡 Creating a safe environment for your pets is crucial.

🐾 Secure Hazardous Items: Keep household chemicals, medications, small objects, and sharp items out of reach or locked away in cabinets or drawers.

🐾 Remove Toxic Plants: Some common indoor plants, such as lilies, philodendrons, and aloe vera, can be toxic to pets if ingested.

🐾 Hide or Secure Trash Bins: Use pet-proof trash bins with secure lids or place bins in cabinets with childproof locks to prevent pets from rummaging through and ingesting harmful items.

🐾 Provide Safe Chew Toys: Offer a variety of safe chew toys to satisfy your pet's chewing instincts and prevent them from chewing on furniture, shoes, or other household items. Rotate toys regularly to keep your pet engaged and entertained.
