FOUR MORE Hundred Acre Wood babies and two more from our friend Becky, along with the momma from this morning and another pregnant kitty will be heading to AlterClinic this week to get fixed! That makes 8 total. I think we have a majority girls again which is great news. We're swimming in kittens right now.

Thank you so much Ginger, Becky, Becky (yes two Becky's!), Rita, and Zoe for making this trip possible, and of course !!! We couldn't do this without you!

I have been after this mama for AGES. Feels good to finally have her in hand (or box trap!). She has one kitten out there so I'll be back for the little one!

This mama has had at least 9 kittens in the last year. One survived to adulthood, one is out there and is a few months old but not friendly. This is the sad reality of outdoor cats: most do not make it, and most die before 8 weeks, before mama ever brings them around for real food and before anyone even knows they exist. It's heartbreaking and the only way to stop it is to trap, neuter, and return the cats where they came from.

Thank you all for all your help in making this possible!

Apollo's family 🩷 10 cats going in to be fixed through the Findlay City TNR Project. Only two kitties still out there to be fixed: TJ (Ares) and an orange kitten of unknown gender.

My heart is at peace knowing Apollo's mom (first torti) and siblings (especially his little sister, the tiny black kitten) will be fixed and won't be adding to the population.

Five kittens and one adult male from Apollo's family will be fixed this week through the Findlay City TNR Project!! I still have two more traps and two more mamas to get so everyone wish me luck. I will feel much better when they are all fixed and able to live peacefully. Also, this is TJ's colony and while he's looking better every day, I'd love to get him fixed so he won't roam or fight. He let me pet him this morning!! 🩷

My granny passed away this morning. I'm thankful that her last few days were peaceful and that she's no longer confused or suffering.

I will do my best to fulfill my rescue commitments this week, it's what granny would have wanted since she so loved her kitties. Please understand I won't be taking on any new commitments for a while.

Apollo was put to sleep last night.

Yesterday Apollo ripped one of his stitches out. yes he was wearing his cone, I don't know how it happened except that the cone was too big for him and may have slipped down over his shoulders as he pushed against the kennel walls/door to get to me. All he wanted was to be held at all times.
I got him into the carrier to take him to the emergency vet, and once I got buckled in, I noticed all the blood. He popped another stitch. I held the wound closed as we went to first one emergency vet, then another, but by the time we got there, he had lost too much blood. They said this kind of wound should never have bled that much and there was likely some underlying reason why he wasn't clotting. They recommend letting him go. I knew. He was not in good shape, he was already half a pound underweight for his age. He was such a fighter, but I couldn't force him to suffer like that. I held him and the last words he heard were "I love you so much."

I did take him to the vet Friday morning to ask about the bleeding I was noticing, they told me it was normal and to just keep cleaning the wound.

Please don't contact me about the rescue for a little while. I had already planned on taking a break for August. The only thing I have planned is getting all of Apollo's family fixed so this never happens again.
